ALBANY DEMOCRAT-HERALD, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2005 Eat and Run Bal 290 ONE HUNDRED NINE generated $13,343 for the Albany Public Schools Foundation through the third annual Eat and Run fund-raiser held over the weekend. About $200 was raised from an hors d'oeuvres and soft drink event Friday evening at Wyatt's Eatery. Saturday morning, the 5K started at West Albany High School. Chambers Feb. 7, 1920 Sept. 14, 2005 Phyllis E. Chambers, 85, of Albany died Wednesday at Timberview Care Center. She was born in Sharon, N.D., the daughter of John Henry and Ida Elise (Anderson) Nelson.

Phyllis spent her childhood in North Dakota and came to Oregon in 1934. She lived in the Dever-Conner area her entire adult life. Phyllis and Aden Chambers were married on Dec. 12, 1943, in Albany. Mr.

Chambers preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1998. Phyllis enjoyed reading and yard work as well as supporting the farm by lending a hand. She was a charter member of Dever-Conner Community Church. Family members who survive include sons Harvey Chambers, Albany and Dean Chambers, Salem; brothers Ira Nelson, Hemet, Elmo Nelson, Fargo, N.D.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Johnson July 27, 1920 Sept. 15, 2005 Edward was born in Portland, the son of Allan and Eula (Wiberg) Johnson. He was raised in North Albany until fourth grade, when he moved to Newberg. He attended Benson High School in Portland. He served in the Army during World War II.

He started his lumber career at Canyon Road Lumber and then managed several Parr Lumber yards. He began Ed Johnson Lumber in 1965 with his wife, Maxine, to wholesale redwood and cedar. They retired in 1985. Their lives focused on their children, grandchildren and great hildren. Maxine preceded him in death in 1997.

He moved to Albany in 2002. Edward is survived by his son and daughter Edward A. and Carol Johnson, Albany; daughter in Aline Johnson, Killeen, Texas; seven grandchildren Randy, Ray, Rick, Amy, Michelle, Robert and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, son, Marvin R. Johnson in 1992, and brother George Johnson.

Visitation will be from 5 to Mortgage lecture scheduled Sept. 27 Nanci Sloan Cummings, mortgage professional, will talk on the basics of government guaranteed home equity conversion mortgages at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Albany Senior Center, 489 Water St. N.W.

He notified City Hall he would be staying in California and then move to Portland to stay with his daughter while undergoing medical treatments.

The City Council accepted his resignation Wednesday and thanked him for his service. Albany attorney named association president Albany attorney Jim Egan has been named president of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association for 2005-2006. He is a partner in the Albany firm Kryger Alexander Egan Elmer Carlson. The membership also elected three new members to the association board: Jim Nelson of Nelson MacNeil in Albany, David Rees of Portland and Tim Williams of Bend. The association is a statewide organization of 900 civil attorneys who advocate for the rights of consumers.

Antique appraisal fair scheduled Wednesday Alterra Villas at Courtyard, an independent living residence located at 1929 Grand Prairie Road S.E., will hold an antique appraisal fair from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. 15, 2005 Judith Adele Kahut, 66, of Vader, died at her home Thursday. She was born in Corvallis. She had lived in Vader for the last four years, coming from Clatskanie. She was a member of the Winlock Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to paint, travel, can and do genealogy.

She was preceded in death by son, Bobby Kahut. Survivors include her husband, Milton; sons Michael, Beaverton and Larry, La Grande; daughters Gina Kahut and Rhonda Gibson, Albany, Michelle Higdon, Marysville, Cyndi Hawk, Vancouver, Carla Johnson, Portland, Marcia Davis, Clatskanie and Rebecca Stevenson, Aloha; 27 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Winlock, Wash. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m.

16, 2005 Tammy, beloved daughter, mother and wife, was born in Salem, the daughter of James Calvin and Kathryn Marie (Sanchez) Brown. She was raised in Salem and attended Barbara Roberts School. She moved to Albany in 2002, where she lived with her four children until her death. She is survived by husband Miguel Angel Ortega Perez, Mexico; children Jose Luis Brown, Miguel A. Brown, Rosa Edelmira DiasBrown and Rafael Enrique Chevez-Brown, all of Albany; parents James and Kathryn Brown, Salem; stepbrothers and sisters Scott, Steve, Pamela and Lynn.

17, 2005 Baby Reece Pembleton died in Albany on Saturday. He was born in Lebanon to Shawn and Kory (Crowder) Pembleton. Family members who survive include his parents Shawn and Kory, Albany; brother Shawn Pembleton Albany; sisters Pandora and Keira Pembleton, Rogue River; grandparents Martin and Michelle Pembleton, Albany and Ronald E. 14, 2005 Hazel Crystal Shown, 99, of Lebanon died Wednesday at her daughter's home. Hazel was born in Sublimity to Ira and Edith (Carter) Geer. She lived in Sublimity until age 10, when her family moved to Fossil. She married Charles A. Shown in Fossil on June 6, 1926.

They moved to Hermiston in 1937, where they lived until 1955. They moved from Madras to Lebanon in the late 1960s, where she lived until her death. She lived at The Oaks in Lebanon for the last 11 years, where she enjoyed taking care of all of the plants. Hazel was a member of the Lebanon First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Group, the Shedd Garden Club, Denny Extension and Eastern Star. Hazel was well known for her tatting skills, was an excellent cook and loved being involved with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on Dec. 26, 1994 and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughter Opal Mae and husband Q.
