NEW CASTLE NEWS, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12,1977 Mrs. Annie E. Mansell Frank D. Mozes Mrs. Annie Ella Mansell, 84, of 814 W.

Washington St. died at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11, 1977, in St. Francis Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Opelika, Ala on May 23,1893, to the late Frank and Emma Storman Hickman. Mrs. Mansell was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church of Cleveland, Ohio.

Her only survivors are a grandson and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will be sent to a Cleveland mortuary, and funeral services and burial will take place in Cleveland. D. Earl Wagner NEW WILMINGTON D. Earl Wagner, 86, of the Overlook Medical Clinic, formerly of Volant RD 3, died at 9:30 a.m.

Sept. 11, 1977, in Overlook Medical Clinic after a four-year illness. He was born in Wilmington Township, Lawrence County on Feb. 22. 1891, to the late Edward D.

and Martha Reynolds Wagner. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Wagner was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Castle. He was married in July of 1911 to the former Eleanor Banks.

She preceded him in death on March 5,1973. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred McConnell of New Castle, and Mrs. James (Twila) Armstrong of New Wilmington; four sons, Edward of New Wilmington, Walter of Volant RD 3, Phillip of New Castle, and James of New Wilmington RD 21 grandchildren; 24 grandchildren and three stepgrandehildren. He was preceded in death by a son Clare B.

in 1976, and a brother Clare E. in 1974. Friends will be received at the E. Gailey Sharp Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Tuesday. The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Russell E. Perry of the church.

Burial will follow in Castle View Burial Park in New Castle. John R. Brittain EAST PALESTINE, Ohio John R. (Pete) Brittain 74, of 64 E. Grant died at 10:10 p.m.

Sept. 10, 1977, in Salem Community Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Beaver Falls, on Aug. 30, 1903, to the late Joseph C. and Maude Van Kleek Brittain.

He formerly lived in New Galilee and retired 10 years ago from New Castle tories plant in New Galilee after 35 years' service. Mr. Brittain was a member and Elder of the Galilean United Presbyterian Church and a former member of New Galilee Village Council. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth M. Beck, whom he married Jan.

12, 1929; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Ruth Anne) Beatty of New Galilee, Mrs. Robert (Helen Lee) Jenkins of Syracuse, N.Y., and Mrs. Russell (Shirley) Newman of Darlington, a son, John R. of Riverside, four sisters, Mrs.

Fern Hill of Clawson, Miss Claribel Brittain of Kansas City, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Seippel of Dundee, and Mrs. Gerard (Mildred) Hembrecht of Mishawaka, two brothers, T. Myron of Oxford, Mich, and William of Beaver Falls, and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Friends will be received at the VanDyke-Swaney Funeral Home, 60 W. Martin from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home conducted by the Rev.

Robert D. Argie of the church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in New Galilee. ELL WOOD CITY Frank Dan Mozes, 56, of Gartley Place, Ellport, died while fishing at Chautauqua Lake, N.Y., on Sept. 11.

1977, of an apparent heart attack. He had been ill with a heart ailment for some time. He was bom in New Castle on Jan. 9, 1921, to the late Dennis and Anna Horvath Mozes. He retired in 1972 on a disability from the Ellwood Works of the U.S.

Steel Corp. where he was a blacksmith. Mr. Mozes was a Navy veteran of World War II, and served in both the Atlantic and Asiatic- Pacific theaters. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Punzell; a son Dennis of Beaver Falls; two daughters, Mrs.

Richard (Kathy) Gartley of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and Mrs. Louis (Barbara) Krachinsky of Valdosta, a brother Dan of Beaver Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Dudash and Mrs. Margaret Haswell, both of Ellwood City, Mrs.

Francis (Ann) Soltes of Ellport, and Mrs. Robert (Emma) Mohrbacher of Pittsburgh and three grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, 309 Spring from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Arrangements for funeral services are presently incomplete and will be announced on Tuesday. Tony W. Navarra BESSEMER Tony W. Navarra, 79, of 39 Fifth died at 7 a.m. Sept.

11, 1977, at his home after a week of illness. He was born in Hillsville, on 1897, to the late Constantino and Giovanna Rich Navarra. He was a retired Station Agent of the Pennsylvania Railroad with 49 years service. Mr. Navarra was a member of St.

Anthony Church of Bessemer; the Bessemer Croatian Club; Bessemer Rotary Club, holder of the Silver Beaver Award of the Boy Scouts of America, and served previously as a Justice of the Peace. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Belora whom he married on Sept. two sons, William and Charles, both of Bessemer; three brothers, Ernest of Hillsville, Henry and Carmen, both of New Castle and two grandchildren. Friends will be received at the M. W.

Cunningham Funeral Home. Oak Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

on Wednesday in St. Anthony Church by the Rev. Edward L. Hoffman. Burial will follow the Mass in St.

Anthony Cemetery. Mrs. Albert Pelino Mrs. Dorothty Herwig Pelino, 632, of RD1 Mercer Road, Townville, died at 11 a.m. Sept.

10, 1977, at her home unexpectedly after a brief illness. She was born in Ellwood City, on April 18, 1914, to the late Charles and Alice Fire Herwig. She is survived by her husband, Albert H. Pelino of Townville; two sons, Albert H. of Green Bay, and John C.

of Oak Forest. two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Judy) Ball of Weston, and Mrs. Robert H. (Emily) Anderson of Fort Wayne, a sister Mrs.

Thomas (Alice) DiSantis of Aliquippa; a brother Charles Herwig of Milwaukee, and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Friends will be received at the Tanner-Reynolds Mortuary, Highland and Winter avenues, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The service will be at 11 a.m.

Tuesday at the mortuary conducted by the Rev. Roy Bickley of the First Baptist Church of Townville. Burial will follow the service in Castle View Burial Park. Edward D. Fee Edward Daniel Fee, 74, the retired founder of the E.

Durward (Margie) Jones of San Marcos, Mrs. Robert (Vivian) Jones of Antioch, Mrs. George (Marilouise) Pizoli of Beckley, W. and Mrs. Thomas (Beth Ann) Cole of Wexford, four sons, Donald E.

of Phoenix, Richard C. of Erie, Daniel E. of New Castle, and David J. of Brentwood, a sister, Mrs. William (Gertrude) Gilboy of Pittsburgh; a brother, Thomas C.

of Newcastle; 46 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and James, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schooley and Mrs. Catherine Baker. Friends will be received at the J.

Arrangements for the Mass and burial are presently incomplete and will be announced Tuesday. Shirley L. Couch Shirley Lee Couch, 35, of 1822 Buffalo Road, Erie, died in an accident on Sept. 11, 1977, in Erie County. The body will be returned to the Edward A.

and Donald G. DeCarbo Funeral Home, S. Mill and E. Lutton streets. Arrangements will be announced Tuesday.

Union educators, parents to meet A meeting of the Union School District Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) with the ad- mininistration and teachers will be held Wednesday. Teachers, board members, principals and the superintendent have been invited to the meeting where parents may informally ask questions and discuss issues with the school officials. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. George A. Barjuca ELLWOOD CITY George A. Barjuca, 85, of 313 Mahoney Ave. Ellport, died at 1:05 p.m.

Sept. 11.1977, in Ellwood City Hospital after a three-year illness. He was born in Rumania on June 29, 1892, to the late George and Sara Barjuca. He was retired in 1957 from the Ellwood Works of the U.S. Steel where he was a saw operator in the bar mill.

Mr. Barjuca was a member of the Christian Assembly Church, and Post 157, American Legion, as an Armv veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Christien and a son John of Lexington, four daughters, Mrs. Philip (Olimpiea) Lazar and Mrs. Alvin (Helen) Fehringer both of Ellwood City, Mrs.

Albert (Amelia) Musser of Bernardsville, N.J., and Mrs. LaRue (Mary) Epler of Berwyn, a brother Jacob in Rumania; 13 grandchildren and two-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and a sister. Friends will be received at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, 309 Spring from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Eunice DeRoss CORTLAND. Ohio Mrs. Eunice Evans DeRoss, 85, of 370 Cortview Drive, formerly of New Castle and Sharon, died at 6:25 p.m.

Sept. 10., 1977, in Warren General Hospital in Warren, Ohio with an illness of the past week. She was born in Wayland, Ohio, on April 19, 1892, to the late Emlyn and Mary Williams Evans. She was a retired teacher of the Portage and Trumbull County Schools in Ohio. Mrs.

DeRoss was a member of Cortland Christian Church, and a graduate of Kent State University. She was also a member of the Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen. Her husband, Conrad DeRoss, whom she married May 12, 1916, died Sept. 4,1962. She is survived by a daughter Mrs.

Gordon (Frances) Daisley of Johnstown, two sisters, Mrs. Emmett Mabel) Fausnaught of Wayland, Ohio, and Mrs. Florence May of Cortland; one grandchild, two grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shafer-Winans and Love Funeral Home in Cortland, Ohio, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle. Slay suspect hearing reset A hearing for David Leroy Hanna, 30, of RD 3, a suspect in the murder of James Edward Miles, has been rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22.

The hearing had previously been set for this afternoon. Hanna was arrested Tuesday by state police and charged with Miles's death. Miles, 20, who lived at 44 Shenango Road, was found dead in a ditch along Pa. 158 at at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said he had been beaten and run over by a vehicle. Hanna was taken to the Mercer County Jail and held without bond following arraignment before Mercer County District Justice Evelyn Golubic. Washington Street at 9 a.m. Saturday, ConRail officials said. The train was traveling east at a slow speed when the accident occurred, spokesmen said. Defective track is believed to have caused the derailment. Crane crews from Hulcher Emergency Service, Mercer, worked Saturday to place the derailed cars back on tracks.

The hoppers received minor damage, spokesmen said. The tracks were cleared by Saturday evening. Approximately 500 feet of track will have to be replaced. Crews were expected to start work on that project today. The mishap has slowed some ConRail operations.

The damaged track carried trains to Sharon. Trains bound for that city must now be routed through Youngstown and over the old Erie Railroad main line, spokesmen said this morning. DA Williams speaks to GOP CLARION Lawrence County Dist. Atty. Donald E.

Williams wras the featured speaker at a conference of Republican leaders Saturday night. Approximately 200 Republicans from the 15 counties in the northwest' region of the state attended the conference, which was held at the Sheraton Inn. Richard Thornburgh, former U. S. deputy attorney general, praised Williams for his work.

Others attending the affair included State Rep. Robert J. Butera, the Republican floor leader, State Senate Minority Leader Henry Hager and State Republican Chairman Richard F'illing. Sunnyside Road closing for repairs Sunnyside Road in North Beaver Township will be closed for repairs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Buyers of the three top females were Dr. Paul and Kathy Mahar of Youngstown, $3,200, including a bull calf; and Louis and Mary Baker of Bealsville, two animals at $3,000 and $3,100. The animals sold for an average of $1,177. Jameson sold almost all of his herd in order to devote more time to educational matters. He is director of education at the New Castle Youth Development Center and is promoting two educational programs for high schools and colleges.

The beef cattle sale, held at the Mercer Livestock Auction, also included other cattle bred by animals from the Litton Charolais Ranch of Missouri. The other cattle sold for a total of $106,055 with an average of $1,282 per animal. Included was purchase of a quarter interest of a bull for $10,800 by Dr. James McFadden of Indiana. The price places the estimated value of the bull at $43,200.

TISSOT Perry building target of thieves State and Perry Township police are investigating a Saturday night burglary that netted thieves $800 worth of chain saws and hand tools from the Perry municipal building on Pa. 488 Police said the intruders loaded the goods onto the bed of a township pickup truck and drove off sometime between 6 p.m Saturday and 7:30 a.m. yesterday. Entry was gained by breaking a bathroom window. Perry police chief Walter Blair assisted state officers in their investigation.
