A A 71 1 unit rejects Fischer Chess Canada paper publisher, famous horseman dies 1: Lothar Schmid, the West German referee of the match, said the organizers of the match would do all they could to meet the American's demands. "But under the rules," Schmid added, "if he had objections, he had to present them to me within six hours after the last game. He did not do this." Won' campaign Prime Minister' of Canada Elliott Trudeau says his wife, Margaret, 23, probably will not campaign in the next general election. Trudeau said Wednesday he didn't want "his family life to be mixed up in politics. (UPI Telephoto) REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) The Icelandic Chess Federation rejected a list of 13 demands from Bobby Fischer today, raising the possibility of a new hitch in the world chess championship match.

Fischer and Boris Spassky, the Soviet world champion, were scheduled to play their fifth game at 10 a.m. PDT today. The score is now in Spassky's favor, the fourth match Tuesday having ended in a draw. Gudmundur Thorarinsson, president of the host federation, said Fischer delivered his list of new demands Wednesday night He said they had "not been met" Thorarinsson said the American challenger, who is a late riser, was still asleep and had not been told of the refusal. The Rev.

William Lombardy, Fischer's second, said he could not say whether Thorarin-sson's refusal would jeopardize the game today. Although many of Fischer's demands were trivial, such as exclusive use of the swimming pool at his hotel, he also asked for "written authority to have film cameras removed from the playing hall" if they disturbed him. Fischer objected during the first game to the three cameras that were to film the match for American promoter Chester Fox. He boycotted the second game because the chess federation would not order them removed. No filming was permitted for the third and fourth games, and Fox has said he would not let his contract for movie and TV rights jeopardize the match if Fischer persisted in his opposition.

MONTREAL (AP) George Maxwell Bell, one of Canada's leading newspaper publishers and an internationally known horseman, died Wednesday night after a long illness. He was 59. Bell was chairman of FP Publications, which owns or shares in the control of the Toronto Globe and Mail, the Calgary Albertan, the Ottawa Journal, the Winnipeg Free Press, Victoria Times, Victoria Colonist and the Vancouver Sun. But Bell listed himself as publisher of only one, the Albertan, which his father had owned. After graduation from McGill University, Bell went to the Kootenay Hills of British Co-.

lumbia to become a prospector. In 1935, when his father died, he returned to Alberta and became business manager of the Calgary Albertan. Bell's father had owned a string of daily papers in western Canada but at his death the Albertan was his last and it was in pawn to the banks for $500,000 in loans. Although making only $35 a week, the son scraped together 135,000 from friends for a down payment and bought the paper.
