Where did you get the idea that I advised you to do what you did? And couldn't you be romantic without I calling in the scene shifters and the stage hands, and creating the at: mosphcrc of a society drama? You see, my dear, romance to you is really apple bios- sons, and shaded lights, and trap-' something that is in you, and that you must naturally radiate. That is why you can see no ro-1 mance in because it is I not trimmed up in tinsel. You tail i to see anything romantic in a man loving you and expressing his love in 1 practical tributes, such as a lovely home, quite unlimited charge ac- i counts, pretty dresses, and more liberty than any girl as attractive as you should have.

If you ever had worked, you would know that all work does not end by: i 5 o'clock, even if that happens to I be the end of the eight-hour day. 1 As nearly as I can figuro it out, you immediately suspected that Alan was giving liis work as an cxcuse for being with his stenographer. You just planned a certain evening--probably because of the novelty of when it did not work out- as you wanted it to, you let it defeat the object.

That is most ll- i logical and unreasonable. And certainly Alan had some reason for being angry at you. It was I not cxactly the sort of home-coming a man who had been working all' day and all evening would relish. I think you owed him an explanation. And certainly, I think you were much to blame in having Norman at, your home, at hour, with no one.

To this sort of armed neutrality, I much prefer a good, all-around fight, where each of you come out straight from the, shoulder and thrash out your differences.

My advice, my dear child, is (o tell your husband exactly what just how Norman happened to be there. apologise or be humble; just be sensible. dramatize the situation. I believe you could forget your bitterness in a good hearty laugh. Try it.
