Matter Considered at Meetlnsa Held Iaat Nlabt At a meeting of the Highway Committee of Select Council, last evening, Mr. Schlayer submitted the following regarding the uses of the streets by the City Passenger railway company, which was referred to the Citv Solicitor: "Is it safe and wholesome legislation to grant the use of a street or streets to a com pany which has leased all its rights and privi leges to a company which has already been granted the same streets, but refuses to ac cep the provisions of the ordinance; and the company so asking do not intend to occupy said street or streets, but to hand the privi leges over to the company to whom they have leased their rights and privileges to assist them in their design to evade the provisions of ordinance No. 339 file of Select Council Wonld you, as the legal adviser of the city, advise ns to do this 7 An early reply is re quested.

How will you have them, brethren, in whole or a brick at a time Chambers burg Repository. Don't 'jest. He langhs best who laughs last. A GRAND DISPLAY.

Those Who Palled lo See Meboatopol Missed a Treat. There was a great crowd at Sebastopol last night, and close estimates place it at 7, 500, which is very near the actual attend ance. This is something remarkable for a second night and completely outdistances the attendance of Jfompen that was considered phenomenal. In a word the people clearly understand that Sebastopol is one of the grandest attempts at open air performances that has ever been attempted, and that the most strenuous efforts are being exerted to make each succeeding performance better than tne other. This effort is meeting with success, and if the first night was great then it would be hard to describe the exhibition of last evening.

The details had been per fected. Artists, soldiers and mechanics worked with the vim that is characteristic of proper management, and it would be impos sioie to describe tne universal satisfaction that the entertainment gave on all sides. The display of fire works was particularly complete, and the novelties promised more than fulfilled expectations. There Will be Greut Attractions for Tomorrow Night. There are just four new and additional features promised for to morrow's Siege of oeDastopoi.

irat is the anxiously awaited appearance of the City Grays in a grand military drill. They will go through with many new and intricate manouvers, and will appear fully equipped as if their reputation, that is the envy of the whole State, were at stake. The first appearance of the Fiske Military Band in a grand concert before the opening of the exhibition calls for more than ordinary notice. In musical circles tbe band is generally conceded to be one of tbe best in the State, and delightful music can be looked for. The thousands of friends of Mayor Fritchey will be interested in the performance from the fact his portrait, clearly and magnificently outlined in fire, will be presented.

Another novel pyrotechnical device will be a great steam fire engine that will occupy an immense frame and that will glow with the most Driuiant colored lights. AMONG THE SCHOOLS.
