Cox, 27 'Q Graveside service held Ll A private graveside service jvas held yesterday in Needham Cemetery for David V. Cox, a former' Ma-rine whose court case inspired tfie 1992 movie "A Few Good Men." Mr. Cox, 27, of Natick, was found dead of gunshot wounds April 2 ater a three-month disappearance, xl He was born in Boston and later moved to Needham. A 1985 graduate of Needham High School, he jgraidu-ated from Massachusetts Bay Community College in 1991. Mr.

Cox joined the Marine Corps shortly after finishing high school. While serving, he received Good Conduct awards, letters of appreciation and letters of commendation While stationed in Cuba, Mr. Cox and nine other members of his unit took part in an unofficial disciplinary action that involved giving another Marine a checkerboard haircut; The injuring of the victim when he: inhaled a cloth gag led to charges iof attempted murder later reduced to aggravated assault against! Cox and the other participants. Cox and two others were brought to trial in 1987, inspiring the courtroom drama played out by Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore in the movie. Cox was-joji-victed of simple assault after testifying that he had acted on implied! orders from his superiors.

He was honorably discharged from the Marines in August 1989 and was working for United Pafcfel Service when he disappeared Feb. J. Mr. Cox was active in many baseball leagues for youngsters and adults, including the Needham Little League, Senior League, American Legion baseball and a summer baseball league in Waltham. Che Boston (Dlobe 466-1818 for'; Home Defivef Was active in Wellesley groups Ethel (Dulaney) Sanders, a longtime Wellesley resident and community activist, died Thursday in New England Medical Center of injuries resulting from a fall while walking with her family on Easter. She was 81. A native of Baltimore, she graduated from Roland Park Country School in that city. She moved to Wellesley in 1932 with her husband, the late Franklin Sanders. After living in Longmeadow from 1938 to 1950, they returned to Wellesley.

Mrs. Sanders and her husband founded the Wellesley Conservation Council and she served as its first president She was a member of the council board of directors from 1958 to 1994. Through the council's efforts, several properties were set aside as open spaces for wildlife and passive recreation. She was a member of the Wellesley Town Meeting from 1971 to 1981, a member of the Wellesley Garden Club, the League of Women Voters, the Trustees of Reservations, the Charles River Watershed Association and a volunteer for a variety of political candidates. She was also a distributor of Shaklee products.

In 1976, Mrs. and Mr. Sanders received the Wellesley Distinguished Service Award and the Massachusetts Audubon Society Award for many years of effective work on the environment. In 1987, they were honored with the Wellesley Award for service to the community. Mrs.

Sanders was a member of the Wellesley Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, worked on various church committees, was a deacon and served as church moderator in 1991-1992. She leaves a son, Franklin D. of Bernardsville, N.J.; two daughters, Nancy Sanders Hutcheson of Charlotte, N.C., and Susan E. of Haverhill; a sister, Nancy (Dulaney) Rowe of Cockeysville, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late John A.
