Mason and the petition to President Arthur on the same evening. All those who desire to contribute or sign can do so up to that time. It is earnestly hoped that in the next four days at least forty dollars will be raised so that the total will foot up one hundred dollars. In another column will be found a letter written by Sergeant Mason's wife, from which it is very evident that "Betty and the Baby" are in want. The first contribution to the Telegraph nickle box to day was from the employees of Frazer's planing mill at sending thirty one nickles by Mr.

Alfred Hummel, the foreman. Mr. Hummel also signed the names of the thirty one employees to the petition. Council Meeting. Both branches of Councils will hold regular stated meetings this evening.

The committee appointed to investigate the alleged corrupt solicitation in connection with the contract for hose will report. The committee held a meeting last evening to agree on the make up of their report, and it is very probable that while tho majority will agree to censure Wales, the minority will make a report exonerating everybody from the charge.
