4 iy Planned by Beta Sigma Phi State Miss Wool Pageant To Be Here The Wool of Kansas" pageant is slated for Feb. i in Salina. Co-sponsors of the public event ere the Salina city council cf Beta Sigma Phi sorority and (he American Sheep Prcducers council in Kansas. Activities will be at 7:30 pm la the Roosevelt-Lincoln junior high school auditorium. Mrs.

Richard D. Sheltcn and Mrs. James Knight are the general chairman and co-chairman. Large Organlzalion Beta Sigma Phi, aa international organization founded in Kansas primarily for social and cultural purposes, now has a membership of 290,000 women around the world. Past projects of Salina Beta Sigma Phi's have included service and financial aid to such grc-ups as Arbury hospital, the Children's Special Education center and the Day Care center, and work for the Tuberculo- Club News sis association and the Cancer drive.

For the past ttiree years, they have furnished cookies for the reception for members of the Salina Ycuth Symphony following the spring concert. Some of these projects have been carried out by the city-wide organization; some, along with many olher projects, are completed yearly by the seven individual chapters. "Miss Wool" Qualifications Candidates for "Miss Wool of Kansas" sh-uld be between the ages of 18 and 23 years inclusive, residents of Kansas, at least 5 foot 6 inches tall in stocking feet and wear a standard size 10 dress, suit or coat. They must have completed on; year in an accredited college or university (however, a second semester freshman wculd be eligible). Conlcslanls must never lave been married, and the win- ler must agiez to promote wool during her reigning, year.

The state pageant is held in conjunction with the "Miss Wool of America" contest and pageant held each June in San Angelo, Tex. Officers Chosen Mrs. Augusta Simmons is the new president of the Past Noble Brands of Miriam Retekah lodge 8. Others elected at a Yule din- party at the Elmore dining were Mrs. Harold Ow- -ens, vice-president; Mrs.

Thomas Oliver, secretary, and Mrs. -Roorey, treasurer. There was a gift exchange -and games, with prizes going Mrs. Owens and Mrs. H.

A Yuletide dinrer for members of Gamma Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority will be Monday. The 6:30 pm festivities will be the home of Mrs. I. S. Huntington, 142 Overhill.

Participants are to provide $1.50 gifts for an exchange. Members of the social committee are to be there at 6:15 pm. Martha Bane presented the program at a chapter meeting with Mrs. Ernest Wolf, 555 S. Delaware.

Co-hostess was Mrs. Joe Karcher. Mrs. Ron Mercer and Mrs Lawrence Crowe, transfers from Sccttsbluff, and Mission were guests. --it program was given Mrs.

Our Town By JACQ WOOLSEY and MAItJ WALLE A Dec. 13 Yuletide dinner party is planned for employes cf Wilson and Company Engineers and Architects, their wives, husbands and other guests. Festivities for approximately 250 persons will be at the Salina Country club. Tables were decorated in red, gold and green at a Yule luncheon for 22 members of the Round Table federated club at the Holiday Inn.
