Mr Kraus a Graduate of South Boston High was employed as an "Official Hearing Stenogra- with the Boston Police Dept. from 931 until his retirement 44 yrs. later. During his tenure he participated in the investigations of many infamous offenses Including the Brinks Robbery and the 'Boston Strangled cases.

His expert court testimonies were instrumental in the convictions of many including some who were eventually placed In maximum security confinement which included Alcatraz Island. Mr. Kraus was the final living member of the 'Big Five police stenographers who recorded lour decades worth of criminal interviews. His colleagues were Messrs. Thomas Burke, George Godfrey, William Shanahan and Harold Staple-ton.

The deceased is known by his love to family, country, and the Boston Red Sox. His loyalities and interests were legion and his influential personality was felt by those occupying a wide variety of professional levels indeed by all fortunate to make his acquaintance.
