PAGE Et PASO POST WEDNESDAY, AUG. 10, 1927 3k- Postmortems By BOB INGRAM Good Football I LOOKS like El Paso will have some good football this fall. With the Mines scouting the country for a big-time coach, with the coming of Olle and Wafer to the High school and with extensive plans laid for the formation of amateur leagues it looks like the pigskin sport will blossom forth in all its glory this season. The baseball season is rapidly drawing 9 a close and already the fans are talking and prospecting over the coming sport. The College of Mines has been slow in a coach.

It may be too late for the Muckers to get a ffood team to play the heavy schedule they have carded but if a coach 1b found like Stewart he will bring most of his team to El Paso. Industrial League I A RACE that has been so close and hard fought as the Industrial league campaign this season it is hard to imagine any of the man- I agers or players any great amount of good will and esteem for their opponents. There have been many outbursts, squabbles and wrangles among the teams this season and a few fights the spectators to show the league was in a healthy condition. But as soon as the last game of the play-off series is over all the hard feeling toward each other will be forgotten. The team that wins the play-off will have the full support of the other teams in the city championship series.

Giants May Spoil Hopes Of BeeTeam El Paso Giants, who seem to be going nowhere in particular in the league this season, may wreck the well-laid plans of Bisbee for a second half pennant, in the series this week-end at Dudley Field. The Giants are out of the race but they can still do considerable damage toward ruining the hopes of other clubs. Bisbee. in second place, is making a big drive to overtake Chino for first place. But a sweep of the series at Dudley Field by the Giants will put Bill club out of the running.

Altho El Paso lost the last to Chino the Giants are playing as good ball as at any time this season. Two of the games were lost by one- run margins after Lefty Graham and Lefty Ferguson turned in remarkable games. Lefty Graham, conceded one of the best hurlers in the Copper league, has been pitching in hard luck lately. He has lost three straight games, all by close scores. His luck in the coming games should change, Seaton believes.

Joubert Davenport, who beat the Giants here the last time the Bees played at Dudley Field, will probably hurl the opener for Bisbee. Lefty Graham is pitching choice. After the season closcd the Electrics put on a swell banquet for the champions, the Peytor. Packers. The Packers reciprocated by staging a big barbecue in Juarez for the Electrics. Sport Monopoly HICAGO is due to have a monopoly in sports this fall. It is a certainty that the Windy City will see Dempsey and Tunney fight it out for the title September 22.

And it is not such a great uncertainty that Chicago will not see a part of the world's series. Chicago has never had a world's heavyweight championship fight. And the last time it had a world series thrill was in 1919. That was the year that the scandal took part cf the thrill out of it for some of the players. Big 5 sk 1 ife United Press Leased Wire Lou 38th home run of the year saved the Yankees from a shut out.

He also had a double in his four times at bat. Lou is now three home runs ahead of Babe Ruth, who failed to hit safely in four times at bat. Ty double and pair of singles in five attempts helped the Athletics trim the Yankees. Hornsby hit a double and a single in five chances. Speaker was idle.

FARRELL United Press Stall Correspondent NEW YORK Jack Delaney, who tossed the light heavyweight championship of the world into the lap ol old Mike McTigue so he could light big men for big money, was an eight-to-five favorite today to win from Paulino Uzcudun when they meet Thursday night in the Yankee stadium. It is second venture of importance into the heavyweight class.

He thinks so much of his chances to fight himself past Paulino, Jack Sharkey, JackDemp- sey and Gene Tunney into the big title that he surrendered a title that would have drawn at least $50,000 in the open market. The lirst venture of the handsome French-Canadian into the heavyweight. ranks was decidedly not a success, as he wan given a sound pasting by Jim Maloney, who later was flattened by Sharkey. victory over Delaney which caused something of a surprise, was taken as another proof of the old legend that in the ring a good, big man is better than a good little man, despite the insistence of his manager tnat he has filled out in the last year, Delaney is still a little man in comparison to the chunky Uzudun and the other ranking heavyweight nobles. Delaney and Pete Reilly, his manager, want to have the Maloney fight thrown out.

They claim Delaney was loaded down with a burden of worry about his wife, who was critically ill, and that he was handicapped further when he cracked his hands and chipped a bone in his elbow. Conditions are all in his favor they insist, and they are pre- ing Paulino will be knocked out less than half the scheduled dis- ancc. NEW long continued prayer for' Jewish talent for the Giants will be answered in a month. The Giants will be able to wind up the season with not one, but two of them on the roster. Mgr.

John McGraw, who rejoined his children, after a sail thru the heat waves of the Sally league, announced that Pitcher Jake Levy, alias Leroy, of the Charlotte club, will be taken aboard the band wagon September 10, during the third and final tour of the west; and that Infielder Andy Cohen, out on option with Buffalo, will be called back about this time, or at the close of the International league season. The Messrs. Levy and Cohen will room together and use their ability for big business to help concoct ways and means of getting the Giants into the financial felicity of the world series. Levy, alias Leroy, was purchased July 22, and McGraw looked him over during his recent trip in the south and congratulated himself on having acquired him thru his scouts recommendations. Levy has won something like a score of games in the South Atlantic league this season, where he has an iron man reputation and has been referred to as Jack Ever Ready He may be an Irish Leroy in the Sally circuit, but he will be a Jewish Levy in New York.

Andv, an El Paso boy, has been playing with Buffalo in the International league this year, under option to the New York Nationals. If these two clubs are still as close together as they are today this series will be of no little interest and importance itself.

Grimes was airtight early in the game and the Giants got an early advantage only to lose it in the fifth and sixth innings. New York evened the score at b'-G in the ninth inning but Paul double in the last of the ninth gave the pirates a 7-6 victory.
