Have gophers In your yard or pasture? Would you like to know how to control them? If your answer is yes to either question a rodent control demonstration has been planned for ytin. It will be Oct. 22 on Deer Park Road just west of Decatur High School. Everett Tucker of Greenville will conduct the demonstration. Pastures will be the lowest cost winter feed for livestock, considering current feed and grain prices.

Now is the time to concentrate on fail and winter pasture production, following recent rains. In order to have pastures available during December, January and February, they must be grow in the fall. To take advantage of present moisture conditions, pastures need to be established as early as possible in September. Sunlight and warmth are other essential growth requirements, besides moisture, for winter pastures. Late plantings of small grains result in spring pastures due to limited grazing conditions in late fall and winter.

Planting should be done on a well-prepared seedbed with good quality seed. To maximize production, a good fertility program also must be followed. With early planting, producers should be alert for fall army worms. Army worm control costs about the same as bale of alfalfa hay per acre. i'lBLIC NOTICE ATTENTION VOTERS (1) FOR PURGE BEGINNING NOV.
