Out of that advice has developed one of the fastest growing business concerns of its kind in this section. When Mrs.

Thomas C. was told she should spend most of her time out of doors she decided a hobby was needed to attract her to the open air. Having always been interested in flowers she began spending most of her time in cultivating other flower. From a ning that was only a hobby has Mrs. nursery that now ships plants to all part- of Texas, employs as many as five persona during certain seasons of year and is attracting interest toward Comanche from other nurserymen and orehardist in all sections of the country.

When Mrs. George first cultivation of the flowers in 1927 she soon found she was producing a surplus. Because of the scientific study he made of plant life her efforts were meeting with more success than she first had anticipated. Soon began asking her to sell them plants. As demands for the flowers had grown became more numerous, Mrs.

George stcuied a floral permit in 1928. By 1929 Mrs. George decided to branch out into the nursery business and a nursery permit was secured in that year. Since then regular inspections of her stock is made by state inspector and no item is shipped from the nursery with- cut bearing the official inspection seal. The efforts of Mrs.

George embrace far more than the mere grow in ir and selling of plants and trees. Experiments are constantly being made with plants and soils to a certain just what trees ornamental shrubbery can be urown successfully in this sec- I tion. Out of experiments has come the Engl Walnut to this section. Mrs. George was the 1 first to sell that type walnut in Comanche, and it wa sold only i after she had untU she was satisfied it could be ces-sffilly giown here, i Mrs.

George does not confine experiments to food bearing i trees, but is deeply interested in the cultivation of ornamental (plants and shrubs. She introduced the Himilayan Cedar to this tion. At present she is attempt ing to adapt and pines to this climate and soil that have never before been grown here, Since tit nursery proper was not consuming all of her time Mrs. J. W.
