next Wednesday at Grace Church in Vineyard Haven. Mrs. Ballantine of Vineyard Haven, died Wednesday at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. She was the widow of Edward Ballantine, professor of music at Harvard. She was born in Bridgeport, and grew up in Springfield.

Mrs. Ballantine was a graduate of Wellesley College, class of 1907, where she was a member of Phi Kappa and president of student government I Throughout her life, she jwas active in Wellesley College alumnae affairs. She was among the first students of the Simmons School of Social Work and served on the boards of Family Welfare associations in Springfield and Cambridge. She also held a master's degree in English from Radcliffe. In 1912, she married Kingman Brewster.

They were divorced in 1927. In 1932 she married Edward Ballantine. They moved permanently to Vineyard Haven in 1946 where they continued enjoy music, gardening and literary interests with a wide circle of friends. Mr. Ballantine died in 1971.

Besides her son, Mrs. Ballantine leaves a sister, Mrs. Lucy Mitchell of daughter, Mrs. Mary Woods Kennedy of Cambridge; six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Jones was bom in Ontario and graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1920.

She lived for years in Newton many Centre and was a member of the ladies visiting committee of MGH. She was also active in the First Baptist Church and various garden and reading clubs. She leaves a son, Dr. Robert H. Jones of Rochester, N.Y., and two daughters, Mrs.
