VINCENNES SUN-COMMERCIAL, MONDAY, JAN. 9, 1995 Deaths and funerals Carl Lange Carl Lange, 75, 908 N. 11th died at 5:17 a.m. today at Good Samaritan Hospital. A retired molder in the foundry department of the Prestolite battery plant, he was a member of the First Church of God and a veteran of the Asian Theater of Operations of World War II.

Born May 6, 1918, in Vincennes, he was the son of Charles C. and Carrie (Fields) Lange. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Marie Glass of Evansville and Priscilla Ann Klein of Vincennes; two sisters, Florence Evans of Vincennes and Agnes Davis of Washington; a brother, Paul Lange of Dover, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Isabelle P. Schnitz) Lange, died in 1992.

A son and a sister are also deceased. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Goodwin Funeral Home, the Rev. Georg Karl and the Rev. Steve Hency officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Joseph A. Lambiotte STURGEON BAY, Wisc.

Joseph A. Lambiotte, 78, 348 S. 15th died Saturday afternoon at his home. A construction engineer, Lambiotte was project engineer for major construction projects in Brussels, Belgium, and Volta Redonda, Brazil. While a resident of Rockford, he was a member of the Rockford school board and chaired its Buildings and Grounds Committee, and was a special deputy police officer.

His memberships include the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and the International Organization of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers. Born June 17, 1916, in Vincennes, he was the son of Ferdnand and Jeanne Lambiotte. Survivors include his wife, Martha (Lyon) Lambiotte, whom he married June 12, 1954; three sons, Roch Lambiotte of La Cresenta, Gregory Lambiotte of Green Bay, and Jack Lambiotte of Denver, three daughters, JoAnn Villasenor of Chicago, Laura Fromm of Rockford, and Terri Lambiotte of Sturgeon Bay; two sisters, Georgette Billings of Bloomington, and Mary Brocksmith of Vincennes; a brother, Elmer Lambiotte of Vincennes; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church by the Rev.

Anthony Birdsall. Burial will be in St. Michaels Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Mortuary and after 10 a.m.

Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Respite Care of Door County. Ruby M. Hans-Howe Ruby M. Hans-Howe, 81, Rt.

1, died this morning at her home. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. Born Dec. 29, 1913, in Golconda, she was the daughter of Edgar and Mollie Morse. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Anna Lukens of Vincennes; two sons, Bruce Hans of Muskogee, and L.D.

Howe of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Bruce Morse of New Braunfels, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Two children and two brothers are deceased. Arrangements are pending at Goodwin Funeral Home. James Sylvan Burnett CONROE, Texas Monroe City, native James Sylvan Burnett, 73, died Thursday at Medical Center Hospital in Conroe. Born Sept.

29, 1921, in Monroe City, he was the son of James S. and Lillian (Chamberlain) Burnett. Mr. Burnett had been a winning contest writer and also wrote comic strips for national magazines and newspapers. He created "Nubbin," a strip about a little farm boy.

It was drawn by George Crenshaw and Henry Boltinoff and syndicated by King Features to domestic and foreign newspapers from 1958-87. In 1985 he created "Winston," a comic strip about a bulldog, which was drawn by Johnny Sajem and sold to News America Syndicate. He worked for Delta Airlines from March 1946 to his retirement in October 1983. He attended the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Spring, Texas, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Burnett; two daughters, Leslie Putnam of Houston and Toni Hart of Porter; a son, Tommy Butner of Wewoka, Okla; five grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, the Rev. Gordan Sudduth officiating. Burial was in Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Mayes, Keith Martin, William Royal, Wayne Crawford, Bobby Crawford and Ricky Crawford.

Arrangements were made through the Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe. George David Mock BICKNELL Former Bicknell resident George David Mock, 67, Indianapolis, died at 12:23 a.m. Sunday at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. Born Nov. 3, 1927, in Edwardsport, he was the son of Omar and Ruth Roxie (McLin) Mock.

Mr. Mock was self-employed. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Barbara Doans of Vincennes; and three sisters, Wanda Pembleton of Conway, Martha Hager of Indianapolis and Louise Phipps of Bicknell. His wife, Bertha Mock, is deceased, as are two brothers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m.

William 'Bob' Horton LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. William Bob" Horton, 73, Decker, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday at the Crestview Nursing Home in Vincennes. Born Aug. 21, 1920, in Lawrenceville, he was the son of William and Bernice (Farr) Horton.

A retired insurance agent, he had also owned and operated Horton's Grocery and Fish Market in Vincennes. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Vincennes First Baptist Church, Vincennes American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, and Vincennes Masonic Lodge No. 1. Survivors include his stepmother, Clara Gray of Bridgeport; two sons, Garvin Horton of Bridgeport and Owen Horton of Wheatland, a brother, Jack Horton of Lawrenceville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service with Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at 11.

15, 1905, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Stephen and Martha (Clark) Highsmith. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Thelma Masengale of Lawrenceville; three sisters, Sue Warner of Lawrenceville and Garnet Smith and Alberta Bessinger, both of Lansing; a brother, Gene Highsmith of Tavares, and two grandchildren. Her husband, Gilbert Wells, i is deceased. The funeral will be at 2 p.m.

Earl Newman, 39, rural Robinson, died at 3:40 a.m. CST Sunday at his home, following an extended illness. Born Nov. 25, 1955, in Crawford County, he was the son of Earl and Lillie (Utley) Newman. Mr.

Newman was a laborer, working through the Laborer's Union local. Survivors include his wife, Sandy (Rich) Newman, whom he married July 13, 1974; his mother, Lillie Shook of Oblong; his father and stepmother, Earl and Dale Newman of North Carolina; a daughter, Jennifer Newman, at home; a brother, John Newman of Attica, Ohio; two half brothers, Jim Newman and Donnie Shook, both of Robinson; and a half sister, Treasa Reynolds of Oblong. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. CST Thursday at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, Brother Rick Starr officiating. Burial will be in Hardinville Cemetery.

Charges listed are preliminary and subject to change. Two area residents face drunk driving charges after two separate accidents that sent three people to the hospital.

Trucks driven by Donna E. Sanders, 34, 2717 Old U.S. 41, and Joseph M. Koenig, 20, Edwardsport, collided at 5:27 p.m. Friday on Ind.

67 near Edwardsport. Sanders, Koenig and a passenger in the Sanders truck, William R. Martin, 39, Edwardsport, were injured. Martin was listed in satisfactory condition this morning at Good Samaritan Hospital. He suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured pelvis.

Sanders and Koenig were treated for minor injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital and released. The trucks were traveling in opposite directions on the highway. Sanders told police her truck began to skid sideways after it hit something on the road. The accident report indicates the Sanders truck ran onto snow and ice that had accumulated on the road. As the Sanders truck entered the lane of traffic in which the Koenig truck was traveling, it was hit broadside.

Sanders was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving left of center. Her bloodalcohol content registered 0.12 percent on a blood test. She was released from the Knox County jail on $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear Jan. 24 in Knox County Superior Court II.

Cars driven by Michael A. Abolt, 42, 1815 N. Ninth and Creig O. Davis, 31, 530 S. Fourth collided at 5:26 p.m.

Saturday at Sixth Street and Niblack Boulevard. Abolt's blood-alcohol content registered 0.12 percent on a breath test. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving without insurance. He was released from jail on $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Jan.

24 in Superior Court II. Damage was estimated at less than $750 to the Davis car. The Abolt car was apparently not damaged. Other accidents Cars driven by Thierry Schleiss, 25, 813 N. Sixth and Steven M.

Blinn, 34, 1428 E. Sycamore collided at 4:31 p.m. Sunday at 10th and Main streets. Blinn complained of pain. He was treated for minor injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital and was then released.

Schleiss was charged with failure to yield the right of way. Damage Lawrence safety forces was estimated between $750 and $1,000 to each car. A car driven by Jeff P. Yockey, 27, 903 Seminary slid into a water hydrant at Locust Street and Washington Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Saturday.

The car went out of control on slick pavement when Yockey attempted to stop for traffic. Damage was estimated between $750 and $1,000 each to the car and the water hydrant. A car driven by Phyllis A. McCoy, 52, 126 E. Chicago struck a parked car registered to Kimberly L.

McCoy, 2 W. Minneapolis at 11:59 a.m. Saturday on Park Street, about 140 feet south of Minneapolis Avenue. Phyllis McCoy was attempting to drive her car out of some slush in which it was stuck. She exited her car, which was in gear, to push it backwards.

The car became free from the slush and went backwards into the Kimberly McCoy car. Damage was estimated at less than $750 to the Phyllis McCoy car and between $1,000 and $2,500 to the Kimberly McCoy car. A semi registered to H.T. Hackney Knoxville, driven by Billy G. Brewer, 39, Mayfield, struck a parked ambulance registered to St.

Anthony Emergency Medical Service at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at 512 Willow St. The semi was driving out of the lot and struck the ambulance, which had just been driven to the gas pumps. The semi reportedly was not damaged. Damage to the ambulance was estimated between $7.50 and $1,000.

A truck driven by Robert L. Jerrels, 43, 205 Manor Drive, overturned at 5:30 a.m. Sunday on County Road 1200E, about 1.2 miles west of Westphalia. Jerrels told police he drove to the far left side of the road to go around a rough area. The front wheels of his truck apparently locked up, causing it to go to the right then to the left.

The truck ran off the road, went down a ditch and overturned when it hit an embankment. It came to rest against a utility pole. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000. Trucks driven by Allen L. Hohl, 40, Huntingburg, and Song Cha Wilson, 50, Washington, collided at 7:53 a.m.

Friday on U.S. 50, about 1.6 miles east of Wheatland. Hohl told police his truck began skidding on slick pavement which caused it to travel in the Wilson truck's lane of traffic. Hohl was charged with driving without a license. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500 to the Hohl truck and between $2,500 and $5,000 to the Wilson truck.

Icy road conditions contribute to crashes The following information was obtained from police reports. LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. Icy road conditions at least contributed to five vehicle accidents during the weekend. A truck driven by Franklin R. Houston, 41, Rt.

2, struck a utility pole guide wire at 5:35 p.m. Saturday on County Road 1500N, about 60 feet east of County Road 1270E. The truck had turned at the intersection and began to slide on slick pavement. Houston lost control of the truck and it slid off the road. Damage was estimated at more than $500.

Cars driven by Donald R. Hedge, 33, 1605 Eighth and William H. Tredway, 62, St. Francisville, collided at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 11th and Cedar streets.

Hedge told police he was unable to stop his car at the intersection. Hedge was charged with driving without insurance. Damage was estimated at less than $500. A truck driven by Scott Michael Murry, 20, Bridgeport, slid into a parked vehicle registered to the City of Bridgeport at 11:37 p.m. Saturday on County Road 920N, about 100 feet west of County Road 700E.

The truck had slid into a ditch and had been pulled out by a car driven by Michael D. Brian, 19, Sumner. Once the truck was on the pavement it slid on the ice into the vehicle owned by the City of Transformer problem At 1:52 a.m. Sunday, city police assisted county police on a transformer explosion at Jones and Sons, South Sixth Street Road. PSI Energy officials were contacted and fixed the problem.

No one at PSI could be reached for comment on what caused the explosion. Other arrests Amy A. Harris, 24, Terre Haute, was charged at 6 p.m. Saturday with public intoxication. She was released from jail on $500 bond.

Michael D. Kimmel, 31, 613 Scott was charged at 6:30 a.m. Sunday with public intoxication. He was released from jail on $500 bond. Gary Ray Cooper, 37, Oaktown, was charged at 4:30 p.m.

Sunday with disorderly conduct. He was released from jail on $500 bond. Gary D. Julian, 47, Bicknell, was charged at 9:30 p.m. Saturday with public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.

He remained in jail this morning on $1,000 bond. Edwin E. Bailey, 41, Indianapolis, was charged at 1:10 a.m. Sunday with driving while intoxicated (a felony). His bloodalcohol content registered 0.27 percent on a breath test.

He remained in jail this morning on $2,000 bond. Charles R. Ikemire, 29, 1105 Noble was charged at 11:15 p.m. Saturday with public intoxication and false informing. Two warrants had been issued on Ikemire from Superior Court II, charging him with failure to appear in court.

He remained in jail this morning without bond. Harris, Cooper, Bailey, Julian and Kimmel are scheduled to appear Jan. 24 in Superior Court II. No court date was set for Ikemire. Complaints While on patrol at 4:04 a.m.

Sunday, police noticed that a window had been broken on the south side of Adams-Meyer, 701 Wheatland Road. Entry was not gained. While on patrol at 3:51 a.m. Sunday, police noticed a north side bay door panel had been kicked out at East Side Conoco, 2734 Washington Ave. The office was ransacked but nothing was reported to have been stolen.

Ray Hatton, Old Wheatland Road, reported that two 400-pound calves were shot dead on his property. William Barr, 1809 S. 15th told police an unidentified Ford vehicle drove through his yard. It knocked out a stump and then drove through the neighbor's front yard. Lotteries Lucille by the Joseph in the the St.

A vehicle driven by Russell A. Decker, 21, Flat Rock, turned onto its side at 6:45 p.m.

Saturday on County Road 1600E, about twotenths of a mile south of County Road 1600N. Decker reportedly lost control of his car on ice-covered pavement, which caused it to spin around and run off the road. It flipped onto its side after running into a ditch. Damage was estimated at more than $500. A truck driven by Brian K.

Watson, 23, Sumner, and a car driven by Adda J. Carrie, 45, Bridgeport, collided at 5:50 p.m. Friday on County Road 800E, about one-fourth of a mile south of County Road 700N. Watson told police he was going to turn onto a private drive and signaled just at the time of the turn. Carrie told police he saw no signal so he began to pass the truck.

By the time Carrie realized the truck was turning he could not get stopped because of icy conditions. Damage was estimated at less than $500. A car driven by Thomas E. Danielsen, 31, Rt. 1, came into contact with an owl at 8:15 p.m.

Sunday on U.S. 50 at US. Business 50. No specific details of whether the car hit the owl or the bird flew into the car were available. Damage was estimated at less than $500.
