Names of one man killed on active service overseas 'and .14 missing after overseas air operations were given in Saturday's Royal Canadian Air Force casualty list, 296th of the war. Eight casualties in Canada were listed two men killed on active service, one dead of injuries suffered on active service, one dead from natural causes, one who died while on active service and three missing after flying operations. Following is the latest list of casualties with official numbers and next-of-kin: Terse.

Dempsey Impressive tribute was paid to the memory, of- William John Dempsey, who died Friday in his 80th year, at funeral services held Saturday afternoon at the Whelan Funeral Home. Services were conducted in the presence of many friends and relatives by Rev. J.

A. Waddell, of Western United Church. Interment was, made in Beechwood cemetery, i Chief mourners were one son, John W. Dempsey, Ottawa; three daughters, Mrs. Robert.

Young, Detroit; H. J. Burke and Mrs. Treve Harris, both of Ottawa, and eight grandchildren. Among the many floral tributes and messages of sympathy received was one from the District Director of Postal Service and Staff.

Philip Miller Buried With Military Honors Royal Canadian Air Force honors were accorded Leading Aircraftman Philip Miller, 21. of Pembroke, at funeral services held In Ottawa Sunday afternoon.

A ground crew man, LAC. Miller was killed in an R.CAT. 'plane crash Friday on his way home on leave from Toronto, where he was stationed. The popular Pembroke youth was a frequent visitor to relatives in Ottawa and made many friends here. Striking tribute to his memory was paid by several hundred members ol the Ottawa Jewish community at the funeral.

-At slow march, the airmen and air cadets. and a lengthy cortege of civilians proceeded on foot to Congregation Agudath Achlm Rideau street synagogue, from where they proceeded by motor to the Jewish cemetery, Metcaue road, where burial took place. Chief mourners were the par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Miller, and a sister, Margaret, all of Pembroke.

He was an only son. Among those from outside mints noticed at the funeral were Dr. Lou Stern. Nat Cohen, B. Bernstein, Fred Riu.

Mrs. Kathleen Mayo Widely Mourned Largely attended by friends and relatives, the funeral of Mfs. BECKSTEAD. CORNWALL. June 21 cial) Seized with a heart attack Saturday night, Ezra W. Beck stead died a short time afterwards at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Stacey, here.

Some years ago Mr. Beckstead occupied the position of superintendent of the House of Industry and Refuge, operated by the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glen garry. He returned to Williams burg township and lived there tor some time, coming to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stacey a few weeks ago.

He had been about the houje up to. the time he was stricken. Born in Williamsburg township, son of Ralph Beckstead, he passed his 73rd birthday on June 13. Besides Mrs. Stacey, who is his only child, he leaves a sister, Mrs.

MacKenzie Seeley, in Matilda township; and four brothers, Allan Beckstead, on the. homestead; John, in Williamsburg township; Milo, Morrisburg; Frank Beckstead, Marlatown. Miss McCourt had 1 suffered a lengthy illness. She was born in the Capital, daughter of the late Michael McCourt and his wife, Sarah Hughes. She received her education in Ottawa schools. A devout member of St Joseph parish.

Miss McCourt belonged to the Living Rosary Society and the League of the Sacred Heart, or ganizations in which she took much interest. Surviving are a sister, Mrs Henry Roche, of Edmonton, Alta, and three nieces. Miss Eleanor Ryan, of Ottawa; Mrs. W. P.

O'Gorman, of Cobden, and Mrs. Robert Grenier, of Sudbury.
