Boston Sunday Globe February 17, 1974 Armored ear held up; loss SAVE ENERGY HOW at $250,000 inJUEKSET Three heavily armed men escaped with $250,000 to $500,000 in an armored car hijacking here last night. The Inteernational Armored Car Services truck had just completed a pickup at the Fernandes Supermarket on Rte. 6, Trooper -Kicnara Doody said. Two of the men fodced the two guards into the armored truck while the third followed in the yellow van. The two vehicles drove off. Somerset Police said the vehicles stopped on little-traveled Lee's River avenue, a mile from the supermarket, where the three unloaded the armored car's money into a brown sedan and. sped away, abandoning the yel-, low van.

Neither of the armored car guards was hurt, police said. The victims were not, identified.
