Mr. Haase, a graduate of New York University, had worked for the welfare department for the last 20 years. A native of Germany, he was raised in Holland. During World War II. Mr.

Haase and his family escaped to Switzerland through Holland, and after the war he returned to attend the University of Rotterdam. He immigrated to the United States in 1950.
