THE CAMERON HERALD THURSDAY, JULY 6, 1922. 4 THE COURT HOUSE DISTRICT COURT. The State of, Texan vs, C. Bryant, charged with unlawful sale of intoxicating liquor, which was last week, resulted in a verdict of Utility and punishment assessed at one year in penitentiary. The State of Texas vs.

Fritz Roch- charged with unlawful sale intoxicating liquor, vcrdict of guilty, and punishment assessed at one year in the penitentiary. In the trial of the W. C. Bryant case the state put a witness on the stand expecting to prove by him his purchase of liquor from defendant, but the witness said he did not know the party who had sold him the li- tjuor, but admitted having made fidavit before the Justice of the Peace at Thorndale and had testified before the grand jury that he purchased it from the defendant, but stated that he had made a false statement before the grand jury. After witness retired from the witness stand the court ordered the sheriff to take witness into custody to await complaint on charge of perjury.

The witness was placed under bond for $1,000 to the action of the grand jury. The court overruled motions for new trial in cases of Bryant and Iioeh- and they appealed to the Court of Criminal Appeals.
