The Vide-eiect. a graduate of Granbury High School, is freshman at Weatherford College The prospective bridegroom is a sophomore at Weatherford and graduate of Decatur High School Battalion opened Dedication was Sunday in 'Wichita Falls for a muvum the famed Lost battalion of the Texas itional Guard. 2nd Battalion, 131st Artillery is the oldest Ifcrtiliery unit in the Texas Jjiational Guard. The 541 of the unit were Raptured March 8. 1942 when ra surrendered and were heard from again until 11945.

The battalions as prisoners of war, forked in the jungles of Thaila and Burma building a railroad. During the more than four year', of imprisonment, the men and the unit had been dropped from the roster, thus the name Lost Battalion. Allied soldiers freed the unit in 1945. Among the memorabilia on display at the museum on Armory Hoad will be the first American flag flown on Japanese soil, the first shell canister fired at the Japanese on Java and other World War II mementos. Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist in Alvord was the setting for a personal kitchen shower Sunday afternoon honoring Miss Bonnie Brown, bride elect of Foreman. Guests were asked to bring a kitchen utensil beginning with the first letter of the name. A unique guest, a green six foot stuffed snake, took the limelight at a dinner at the Master Four and Glory Express. Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children. Tony Dickey of Rhome recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniver sary. They were married Feb. 27, 1954 and have two children, Tony Rhett and Jennifer Melissa iMissy). The couple were honored at a party given by fnends from Rhome. Boyd.

Homer Hancock fell in his garden Monday afternoon and was taken to Decatur Community Hospital with an apparent heart attack by ambulance but it turned out much less serious and he is well improved. Mrs Doug Munson of Farmers Branch visited her father. Damon Pennington, last Saturday. Mr and Mrs.J.T.

Rice have been visiting their daughter. Mrs. Neal Adams, and her family in Crane. Mrs. Neva Nell Ensley and Mrs.

Valton Motley visited in Ardmore. Okla. one day last week. Mr and Mrs. L.O.

Chrest man and Mrs. Libby Hancock spent one day last weed at Forestburg with Mrs. Oma Wakeman. Mrs. R.R.

Dyer is slowly improving after surgery in Bowie Memorial Hospital. Her daughter in law, Mrs. Bob Dyer of Midland, is visiting with her father in law and spending a lot of her time sitting with Mrs. Dyer. A.J.

Pinkerton, father of Mrs. Elbert Mosier and Mrs Buford Nivens, is a patient in Decatur Community Hos pital Mrs Polly Elliott is a patient in Bridgeport Hos pital. Buford Lumsden suffered a heart attack last week and is a patient in Bowie Memorial Hospital. While visiting her sister. Mrs.

Paul Trumpf. last week, Judy Newton suffered a heart attack and was taken by Ambulance to Bowie Memorial Hospital. Homer Whetsell and his wife. Betty, and Mrs. Hazel Manning were in Arlington Community Hospital Monday to visit their son.

Bob Whetsell. when he had surgery on his foot for the second time. Jerrod Niblett of Decatur spent the weekend with his grandmother. Mrs. Libby Hancock, while his parents and brother visited fnends.

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Smith and family in Tyler. Phillip Smith, infant son of Mr. and Mrs, Chuck Smith, was honored Friday afternoon after school in the lounge when the teachers and school workers hosted a baby shower.

His mother. Judy Smith, teaches in the elemen tary school. Mrs. Diann Watson went surgery at Bridgeport Hospital last Friday afternoon. Mike Nivens is reported improving at St.

Hospital in Fort Worth. Billy Harrison is a patient at Bridgeport Hospital. Fearrel Strange is lescing at Bridgeport Hospital. Miss Ethel Towles o( Wichita Falls visited in Alvord over the weekend and attended services at the Firnt United Methodist Church. Centel has new dialing instructions for persons in the Alvord exchange who dial long distance calls beginning March 18.

The new rules will require only a two digit access code including the number and the last digit of the persons telephone number. John I. Pennington, 85. of Nederland, formerly of Wise County. died Saturday.

March 10 in Nederland. Services for the World War I veteran were Tuesday at Union Hill Baptist Church, west of Alvord. the Rev. George Thompson officiated with interment in Union Hill Cemetery. Pennington, born Feb.

10. 1894 in Wise County, was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include sons, Jim Pennington of Walters, Okla and Kenneth Pennington of Oklahoma City; daughters, Nelda Orr of and Downing of Wichita Falls; brother. Walter Pen nington of Alvord; sisters, lioretta Dobbs of Wyoming and Virgie Agee of Abilene, 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
