COMMERCIAL RESIDENTIAL POWER KLEENING PAINTING CO. INDUSTRIAL SANDBLASTING STEAM CLEANING SCRANTON (AP) A security guard Wednesday linked a man accused of raping and burning a young girl to a van prosecutors say was used to transport the victim's body to a remote area. Frank Osellanie, 45, is accused of raping and killing Renee Waddle, 9, on May 14, 1989, before setting her body ablaze along a secluded road in Roaring Brook Township. He is charged with murder, kidnapping, rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. If convicted of first degree murder, he could face the death penalty.

Since the trial began last week, Lackawanna County District Attorney Michael Barrasse has called 36 witnesses in an attempt to show Osellanie used the van he was repairing to dump Renee's body near state Route 307. Barrasse alleges Osellanie returned the van to its owner by 10:30 p.m. the night of the murder. Witness Robert Loney, a security guard for a car dealership near Osellanie's repair garage, testified he saw the defendant getting into the van between 10 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

Two employees of Diamond Auto Glass testified they could place Osellanie on Route 307 the night of the murder. Warehouse manager Marty Walsh testified Osellanie called CiTiZENS' VoicE CLASSIFIED Phone 821-2020 him the day after the murder to say that he had seen a Diamond A company truck in an accident on Route 307 the previous night. 8 Jay Shaffer, who is in charge of Diamond's company trucks, said because Osellanie maintained the firm's vehicles, he took him to retrieve the damaged truck the day after the accident.
