The Luzerne County Transportation Authority said Tuesday it is willing to provide bus service to Harveys Lake if it receives a committment of ridership from lake residents to parantee the route's economic viability. Irzinski also announced the Department of Education has appoved a Preschool Incentive Project in the amount of $28,653, which represents transportation of the students.

Additionally, approval was received for the Vocational Education Coordinated Home Economics Project in the amount of $26,350. Luzerne County Judge Chester B. Muroski swore in recently appointed director Attorney Michael I. Butera, a member of the Wyoming Area School Board. The appointment was unanimously approved by the LIU board.

In other business, the board approved the renewal of a travel accident insurance policy with the Pacific Indem interested residents that would both guarantee the route's success economically and provide the optimum service to interested customers. McAdara said later that he regarded the statements as the "first positive step" toward aligning convenient bus service to the lake area since he began pursuing such action from LCTA last summer. McAdara had secured signatures from 450 Harveys Lake area residents on a petition supporting the service. McAdara said he intends to contact potential riders as soon as possible to develop mutually convenient departure times from the lake to Wilkes-Barre.
