The resolution also calls for a "permanent injunction against dumping radioactive water from the March 28, 1979, accident andor water from the ensuing cleanup procedures into the Susquehanna River." In addition, the Chapter calls upon the President, Congress and the Governor of Pennsylvania to "establish an adequate funding plan to insure the safe, expeditious cleanup of TMI Unit II." Following the vote, Jeff Schmidt, vice chairperson of the board of the Pennsylvania Sierra Club said, "The people of central Pennsylvania have had the threat of TMI hanging over them for too long (3V4 years). Everyday's delay increases the risk of radiation exposure to the residents in the TMI area. The Sierra Club feels it is time that the worst commercial nuclear accident in our nation's history be cleaned up quickly and safely." $3.7 Million UC Fund Interest Misdirected State Treasurer R.

Budd Dwyer has disclosed that his Department's Bureau of Unemployment Compensation has "found" $3.7 million in UC Fund interest earnings which have been misdirected to the Commonwealth's General Fund since 1976. Dwyer said the interest earnings should have been credited to the Department of Labor and Industry which processes federally-subsidized monies used to pay unemployment compensation claims in Pennsylvania. The Treasurer reported that employees in his Bureau of Unemployment Compensation discovered the situation while endeavoring to untangle a maze of intricate balances left to them by the preceding state treasurer.
