Church News CALVARY BAPTIST Visitors have been Mrs. Chris Crawford, Mrs. Wanda Rupp and Judy, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde King and Bobbie Richardson.

Joining the church by letter were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bostick. Received into the church by baptism were Kay Russell and Preston Russell, Sherrill West and Jay Pierce. The Lottie Moon week of prayer for foreign missions began December 4.

At the evening woi ship service a filmstrip on the Life of Lottie Moon was shown. Women of the church met Tuesday evening for a program on Lottie Moon week of prayer for foreign missions. The calendar of prayer was read by Mrs. J. A.

Furr. Prayer was given by Mrs. C. G. White.

The program theme for the week is with Mrs. Randy Henry as leader and participating were Mrs. Leola Stamps, Mrs. J. A.

Furr and Mrs. C. G. White. After the program Mrs.

White conducted business. Members voted to contribute to the Lottie Moon offering, the building fund and to give food and a money donation to the satellite as our Christmas program. The meeting closed with Mrs. Robert Bostick, a new member, leading in prayer. Others attending were Tommye Ann DeShazo and Mrs.

Kelsey James. Also Tuesday evening men of the brotherhood held their regular monthly meeting. E. C. Stone was the speaker.

Randy Henry and Kenneth McClendon. Wednesday evening in observance of Lottie Moon Week of Prayer for Foreign Missions Rev. Randy Henry reviewed the book of as a church wide study. The book gives information on the publications of Baptist Literature in different languages for countries where the southern Baptist have missionaries and mission work. The publishing house in El Paso publishes literature for Spanish speaking people in several countries.

After the book review, the members served dishes of food. The menu was: Drink cafe au lait France; Apple struedel Austria; Queche Lorraine France; Egg Rolls Orient; Swiss Mocha Cafe Switzerland. The food was served from a table decorated in the Christmas motifs. On Sunday morning December 18 at the worship service the church will bring a Christmas offering for the building. Every child or adult will give.

Carol Sally Kindle, a senior elementary education major from Childress was among 67 West Texas University students recently inducted into Aljrfia Chi, the national college honor society. Alpha Chi is a coeducational society whose purpose is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among collie and university students and to honor those achieving such distinction. Membership in the society is based on accomplishment, and is limited to junior and senior students from every academic discipline who are in the upper ten percent of their class. Notation of membership is made on the WTSU diploma and also his college transcript. Speaking at the Alpha Chi induction ceremony was WTSU President Max Sherman, former state senator from the 31st senatorial district, who discussed opportunities for advanced study.
