O'Hare, 80 Was a trial lawyer for lie MBTA John J. O'Hare. 80. of Jamaica Plain, a trial lawyer for the MBTA for nearly 30 years and a longtime trustee of the Lotta Crabtree Estate, died yesterday after a long illness at St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham.

A native of Boston, Mr. O'Hare was a graduate of English High School and of Boston University Law School. At English High he was a four letter man, starring in football, baseball, hockey and track. At BU, where he was known as "Brick" O'Hare, he was quarterback on the varsity football team. Two medals also came his way during his school days.

For rescuing people from drowning in Boston Harbor and for saving the life of a teammate who fell through the ice of Hammond Pond, Brookline, while playing hockey, Mr. O'Hare was awarded the Carnegie and Humane Society of Massachusetts medals. After graduation from BU Law School, he was editor and publisher of a South Shore suburban newspaper for a time and coached the BU football and hockey teams. He was a Navy veteran of World War I and in World War II was chairman of the Selective Service Board in Boston. Mr.

O'Hare leaves his wife, Grace (Minton), an attorney whom he met at BU Law School; three daughters. Elaine West of Carrollwood. Nancy Welling of Framingham and Janet Kenneally of Concord; a sister. Ursula O'Hare Burke of Jamaica Plain; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be said Monday at 10:30 a.m.

in St. Patrick's Manor Nursing Home, Framingham. Former Braintree man dies in airplane test HAMPTON. Va. Paul F.

Coy. 23, an aeronautical engineer working for NASA and a former resident of Braintree, died Thursday when an experimental plane he and two other men were testing crashed into the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Potomac River. There were no survivors. Also killed in the accident were Wendall W. Kelly of Newport News, Va.

and George Mead of Wichita, Kan. Born in Weymouth. Mr. Coy grew up Braintree. Mass.

and was graduated from Braintree High School In 1976. He was graduated cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., in 1980. At Rensselaer, he was member of the national engineering honor society. Phi Beta Tau, the National Aeronautical Engineering Society, and several other engineering organizations. He had been working at the NASA-Langley Research Center in Hampton since July 1980.

Even as a youth, Mr. Coy expressed an interest in aeronautics. He was a member of a model airplane club which met on weekends to fly remote-controlled model airplanes. he unique airplane Mr. Coy was helping to test when it crashed was a prototype built by Piper Advanced Technologies Inc.

of Wichita, Kan. Its main wingspan section was mounted at the rear of the plane and the horizontal tail section at the front below the cockpit. Mr. Coy leaves his parents, Charles and Claire M. (Demarest) Coy of Braintree, and two brothers, Phillip A.

Michael J. deaths Albert Reynolds, 83 4Mr. truck driver 45 years A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John the Evangelist Church.

Canton, for Albert J. Reynolds. 83, of Canton. He died yesterday in Brigham and Women's Hospital. Boston, after a long illness.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Reynolds was known as "Mr. Amvet." A member of the Amvets since 1944, he had served as commander, national vice commander, national provost marshal, and District 1 inspector general. He was a trustee and board member of Amvets Post 1 in Roslindale. In 1976 he was honored by various area Amvets posts at a testimonial at James McKeon Amvets Post 146 in Dorchester.

A native of Charlestown, Mr. Reynolds lived many years in Jamaica Plain before moving to Canton four years ago. He was a truck driver about 45 years, working out of Teamsters Union Local 25 in Charlestown. He retired some 20 years ago. Mr.

Reynolds leaves a niece, Phyllis M. be-Coste of Canton. Henry T. Yost 56 Amherst College biology professor AMHERST Henry T. Yost who taught biology at Amherst College for 30 years, died Nov.

15 in Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Northampton. He was 56. Mr. Yost was the Rufus Tyler Lincoln Professor of Biology at Amherst College.

He had been a biology instructor at Amherst since 1951. Born in Baltimore. Mr. Yost received a BA from Johns Hopkins University in 1947 and a PhD from there in 1951. He then moved to Amherst and began teaching.

Mr. Yost had been active in the American Assn. of University Professors since 1951 and was elected president of that group in 1980. He was a co-founder and president of the Valley Health Plan in Amherst and a former president of the Western Massachusetts Health Planning Council. Mr.

He was the moderator of varsity athletics for 16 years and for many years was an assistant administrator of the Jesuit community at Holy Cross College. He was born In Somerviiie and graduated from Boston College In 1927. After his Jesuit studies, he was ordained a priest in Weston in 1938.
