He was a native of Lawrence and a graduate of Lawrence High School, where he starred on the football and baseball teams in the 1930s. At Holy Cross College, he remained proficient in both sports. He graduated there in 1939. Mr. Ouellette then became a teacher-coach at Putnam, High Schoel and later at Chicopee High School.

He was with the FBI in the early 1940s and then went on to Lawrence High School, where he remained for 20 years. He leaves his wife, the former two sons, Gerard, of Las Vegas, and Mark, of Hampton, N.H; two sisters, Eva Lacasse of Lawrence and Irene Moultrop of Syracuse, N.Y.; two brothers, Rene of Cambridge and Leo of Scituate, and four grandchildren.
