Bumps, Bruises Abound Stillwater, Okla. Nebraska defensive end Bob Martin, who was dismissed from a Lincoln hospital Friday in time to catch Nebraska's flight here, was back in a Lincoln hospital Saturday night. The Cornhusker co-captain started and played the first half against the Cowboys despite a severe knee infection caused from an AstroTurf burn. "It didn't feel too bad the first half," Martin said of his knee. "But after I sat down at halftime, it stiffened up and I just couldn't go on it anymore in the second half." Martin was limping noticeably throughout the first half, but still managed to participate in four tackles and recover a fumble.

His replacement, senior Dave Redding, also suffered a knee injury Tony Samuel replaced Redd i with nine i remaining in the fourth quarter. Nebraska quarterback starter Terry Luck was forced to the sidelines early in the first quarter with an eye injury. Trainer Paul Schneider said it will be checked Sunday to determine the severity of the injury. Wingback starter Curtis Craig also missed almost the entire game because of a bruise of the lower thigh. He's expected to return to the lineup next week against Colorado though.

Injuries also struck two other key Nebraska players. All- American center Rik Bonness reinjured a knee and had trouble walking off the field and all- American monster candidate Wonder Monds was sidelined periodically with a jammed neck. "This is where the 48-man travel limit really hurts you," Nebraska coach Tom Osborne observed. "We're hoping Craig just had a charlie horse. "But when he went out on the fifth or sixth play, we were forced to use Tom Heiser almost the whole game," noted Osborne.

"We even had to move John O'Leary over to wingback to help out there." Schneider said the full extent of Nebraska's injuries won't be known until Sunday. Monte Anthony (49) went on his first 100-yard rampage of the season Saturday. The Bellevue sophomore rambled through holes like this for 117 yards on 19 carries. The contrasting reactions tell the story of this play. While Brad Jcskiss (92) signals a Nebraska touchdown to the delight of Dave Shamblin (81), Cowboys Darnell Meyers (26) and Clifton Sullivan (6) aren't nearly so happy.

It. EWSPAPER Just when things looked like they were going good, disaster struck. The Huskers led 21-7 and OSU was forced to punt. But Bobby Thomas (8) couldn't find the handle on an attempted fair catch and thfe race was on. Pursuing with Thomas are Cowboys Pete Coppola (21), Kent Gravely (52), Ron Baker (66) and Skip Taylor (28).

Coppola made the recovery and OSU scored on the next play. i.
