Gregory's Church, Dorchester, for Henry P. Doherty, 47, of Dorchester. He died Wednesday in his home after a long illness. Mr. Doherty had worked in the composing room for The Boston Globe for 26 years.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was active in Globe interoffice sports. He was on the Printcraft Bowlers' Assn. and the Boston Typos Baseball and Softball leagues. Mr. Doherty was a veteran of the Army in the Korean War and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.

He leaves his sister, Regina Baird of Milton, and a brother, Paul Doherty of West Roxbury. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Canton. Alexander Sidorenko, 64; prominent Soviet scientist MOSCOW Alexander Sidorenko, vice chairman of the Soviet Academy Sciences who helped develop Siberian oil and gas deposits, died in a car crash, Tass reported yesterday. He was 64. The Yugoslav news agency Tanjug reported'" that the crash occurred in Algeria during Mr.

Sidorenko's official visit there. It gave no details. Tass was silent about the circumstances, saying only that the crash occurred Tuesday. "Soviet science has suffered a great loss," said the official obituary signed by President I. Brezhnev and Premier Nikolai A.

Mr. Sidorenko was elected vice chairman of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, the state-run organization overseeing research, in 1975 after an outstanding career as a geologist, the Soviet; news agency said. Mr. Sidorenko was a 1940 graduate of Voronezh University, joined the Communist Party in 1942 and served in the Soviet Army during World War I II. Mr. Amendola was graduated from both the New York Military Academy and St. Anselm's College, Manchester, N.H. He lived in Situate for the last 10 years and formerly lived in Newton. Mr.
