(AP)-High- stepping Baylor tailback Steve Beaird scored three touchdowns, two on passes from quarterback Neal Jeffrey, as the Bears upset 12th -ranked Oklahoma State 31-14 in an intersectional football game Saturday night. Oklahoma State is NAPA, Calif. (AP) A hole in one, highlight of the stunning birdie-ace-birdie (tart, propelled Johnny Miller to a 67 and a two-stroke lead Saturday in the third round of the $150,000 Kaiser International Open Golf Tournament.

Rice Ties LSU, Barely Missing HOUSTON, Tex. (AP) -Rusty Jackson kicked a 27-yard field goal with three seconds left to play Saturday night to rally nth-ranked Louisiana journey to El Campo for a p.m. outing. After bang held to only three first downs in the first half, Victoria scored the game's initial touchdown in the third quarter with Austin Lawsoo going 3S yards to paydirt on a sweep. Harvey added a two-point conversion as Crain led 20-0 at halftime.

Mike Pinnington recovered a blocked fumble in the end zone for Howell's first touchdown and David Escjido added a one-yard TD run. Charlie Gonzales added a two-point conversion run. In the game, Crain won 22-12 in the first game for both teams. Arnold Garcia had two touchdowns for Crain and Raymond Cavazos the other. Jerry Farias and Garcia had two-point conversions.

John Cantu scored twice for Howell. Auburn Bops Vols by 21-0 AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Junior Kenny Burks scored three touchdowns on short plunges and Auburn clamped an unyielding defense on Tennessee Saturday and smashed the Hthranked Vols 21-0 in a Southeastern Conference football game. After a scoreless deadlock in the first quarter, Victoria got on the scoreboard before halftime when Victor Dum broke an off-tackle play for 94 yards and a touchdown. Dou Martin then passed to Harold Golden for the extra points. Carlos Miles scored on a five-yard run in the third quarter and Victoria upped the margin to 20-0 in the final quarter when Raul Cervantez intercepted a pass and raced 35 yards to paydirt. Freshman Red plays at El Campo Thursday at 4:30 p.m. PW in Win Patti Welder rolled past Crockett White 54-6 for its first eighth grade football victory of the season Saturday.

Willie Barefield, Fabian Lara, Edwin Williams and Kevin Newsome had two touchdowns apiece to pace Patti Welder. Barefield scored on a 40-yard run and a 30-yard pass from James Porter, Williams tallied on runs of 45 and 46 yards, Newsome scored on scampers of 35 and 20 yards and Lara reached paydirt on runs of 45 and 25 yanjs. Porter had a pair of two-point conversions while Robert Stanley had the other two-point run. Entry Deadline Set The deadline for entering the local Pass, Punt and Kick Contest is Friday, contest chairman Von Bunch reminded interested participants Saturday. Bunch said all youngsters between eight and 13 years old are eligible for the competition to be held at 9 a.m.

Saturday at Patti Welder Stadium. This season there will be no registration on the field as has been the case in past seasons. Interested participants can obtain registration blanks at Swain-Kovar Ford and the intermediate schools. Bunch reminded all participants that no cleats or special footwear is allowed in the contest with tennis shoes preferred for the competition. There is no entry fee for the contest, co-sponsored by Swain-Kovar and the Sunrise Optimist Club.

(AP) Fired-up Colorado, which earlier blew a 10-0 lead, bounced back behind the running of sophomore tailback Billy Waddy to upset 11th ranked Wisconsin 24-21 in college football Saturday. The victory was the first of the season for the Buffaloes after being trounced by Louisiana State and Michigan on consecutive weekends. Wisconsin's record fell to 2-1. Arthur is now at SMU on a football scholarship. Friday night in Gobbler Stadium Quincy Whittington, Arthur's brother and also a tailback, rambled for two touchdowns. But, in Prause's news story Quincy got called Arthur. So this little bit is to let fans know the Gobblers have another fine running back named Whittington.
