The boys went to a lot of expense to provide the entertainment, and we are glad to undertsand that they came out with a fairly, substantial sum above their outlay. It was a great day, and there was no lack of warm patriotism and love for our country in our hearts, though it was not talked about in sonorous phrases. Our hearts warmed to the abundant red, white ami blue about the town and the thought of Old Glory floating above the court house and the trees underlay all our fun and frolic through the day and the night. Mrs, M. Kelly and daughters.

Ed. It. Bentley, candidate for State Superintendant of Schools, will speak In Comanche next Tuesday morning, July 11. still lives, and the other, Jeff Kelley, in California, in which state his family yet resides. Two sisters are still living: Mrs.

M. E. Walker, of Rising Star, and Mrs. Mattie Rogers, of Gustine. Besides two little sons, twins, who died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelley were the parents of eight daughters, all but one of whom still live. Three years ago Jessie, Mrs. C.

G. Bradley, died in Burkburnett, leaving three little children. These little ones were taken into the home of their grand parents and are Isdng reared there with all the tenderness and care that grandparents and aunts can lavish on them. Another daughter, Mrs. C.

S. Anderson, lives in Comanche, as do Mrs. Annie Gaines and Misses Maud and Berta, the latter of whom has been a teacher in the Comanche schools for several years. Other daughters are, Mrs. D.

W. Long, of Hasse, Mrs. Taylor Lee of El Paso, and Mrs. Knox Lee of Marshall. Some forty years ago Mr.

Kelley was converted under the preaching of Brother Powers at Board church, shortly afterwards uniting with the Baptist church in which faith he re- inained till his death, lieing a member of the Central Baptist Church of Comanche. His children have all followed him in this faith, which is also bis although their memberhslp, or at least those who reside in Coman- i che, is in First Baptist church of this place. Mr. Kelley was always prominent In the political movements of Comanche county, having been one of the lenders of the Populist party in the days when it was so strong here. After its solution, however, he came hack into the Democratic party and never failed, as long as his strength lasted, to take the active and Interested and responsible part in politics which every good citizen who realizes his responsibility in a representative form of government for the character of that government must take.

However much we sympathize and grieve with near and dear who suffer such a personal loss as this, there is always something of triumph in the feeling with which we view the laying down of the burdens of life by one who has fought a good fight, been a useful and responsible citizen, amassed a modest fortune by his own labor and thrift, and left as an enduring monument to his children and grandchildren and their children after them, the proof that a man can, by keeping the laws of God, physical, mental and moral, by laboring and saving and thinking, by shouldering with bis neighbors all community problems, build a life which is worth while and which yields the maximum of honest happiness. i Fresh water all the time COOL DELIGHTFUL REFRESHING NEVER Buy a ticket and save money i Todd dc Jennings GENERAL MERCHANDISE Dry Goods, and Furnishings and Shoes Groceries.
