Morris' seven yard TD run early in the fourth quarter put the Ponies ahead for good and his final five-yard score capped a 9 14 drive that ended with two minutes left to play. Rice tried desperately to rally but SMU cornerback Mickey Early intercepted a Cramer pass with 1:17 left in the game to end Rice's final threat. Respectively, the drives covered 45, 75, 46, 85 and 45 yards. TCU's touchdowns came in the first and fourth periods. Quarterback Kent Marshall rifled a seven yard pass to Ronnie Littleton for the first score and Steve Patterson cracked across from the two for the second.

Sandwiched in between was a 46-yard field goal by Berl Simmons. Some 2,500 uniformed Cadets added lusty flavor to a Parents' Day crowd of 32,010 who witnessed perhaps the Aggies finest hour of the 1973 season. David Walker, at 17, the. youngest of the Aggies, made a sparkling debut as a starter, netting 81 yards on 19 carries. He completed 2 of 3 passes, one for a touchdown.

Skip Walker, however, captured rushing honors with 122 yards that included a 38-yard gallop to set up the fifth touchdown. Defensive end Don Long got the Aggies rolling midway through the first quarter, retrieving a TCU fumble at the Frog 45 that led eventually to Bower's touchdown. Aided by a 15-yard penalty, TCU tied it at 7-7 on Littleton's diving catch of a Marshall pass to climax a 71 yard drive. A face mask ruling was a key play in the Cadets go-ahead second period touchdown and a short TCU punt set the stage for the third Aggie score. The touchdowns by Sims and Floyd followed but by then the Aggies virtually had clinched the decision.

The Aggies amassed 353 yards on the ground while limiting the Horned Frogs to 143. Besides the Walker Boys, Bowers and Sams had a busy afternoon with 64 and 61 yards respectively. With ace running back Mike Luttrell on the wounded list Marshall led the TCU attack with 60 yards on the ground and 55 through the air. Littleton got 55 for the Frogs, who are now 2-3 for the season and something of a bystander in the SWC championship race. Most people believe the UTL Just sets a figure for the minimum enrollment in each class and works from there. However, that's not the case according to the UTL newspaper, the "Interscbolastic Leaguer." According to the publication, the governing body starts with the largest school and works down until it has enough teams for Class AAAA.

That, of course, becomes the cutoff figure. That same policy is used for the remaining classes. Regardless, most area coaches are anxiously awaiting the new lists to see who they'll compete against next season. And for the most part, District 25-AAAA coaches would like to see defending league champ Brazoswood go the other way.
