I feel that all through high school, and through these three years of college, God has been preparing me for a ministry in working close with persons. I had the choice of working as a full-time pastor at a church on Rough River or being youth director at Livermore. A lot of prayer and meditation was spent as I searched for which of the directions to take. After visiting this town and observing the need for more Christian influence in the community, I feel that the Lord told me to come here. With the confidence of knowing God's will, I plan to do all in my power to let the Holy Spirit work at Livermore United Methodist Church.

First' of all, there are enough young people at the church to divide into two or three youth groups by age rather than one group as it has been. This will enable each group to have programs that relate to that age group, rather than having one program and trying to relate to all the The purpose of a youth program is to help the youth of the community to grow strong and full in character. That will Include the social (which is fun activities like softball and camping, etc) and also the purpose includes fun, but serious activities in the spiritual aspect (which is prayer groups and Bible studies). My second plan is to help organize such programs. The church can best serve the people that are in the church.

Therefore, I will strive to increase the youth group in number by (finding those churchless kids in Livermore and to "compel them to come in." Bro. Howard Moody and I both share excitement In coming to Livermore. There is a great potential here for an over-all more Christ centered community. What is truly exciting is the zeal and concern we have already felt from the people at Livermore United Methodist Church. Praise Jesus for He alone is worthy.

Also, I wish to state again I have no ax to grind. I don't even drink. I merely feel progress and community growth demands we catch-up to communities, who do have pools and other modes of recreation, even motel rooms, more than one public phone, etc. Remember, anyone over 18 years of age, can vote now! Phone278-2228 1 May 30, 1975 McLean County News Calhoun, Kentucky Editor: Madeline Murray O'Hare continues to try to keep the Bible Trom being read by our astronauts in their trips in space. She obtained 20,000 signed letters protesting the decision of the astronauts to read the Bible as a Christmas message tq the world from their space craft while orbiting the moon in December, 1968. She plans to present these letters to Nasa again with the demand that the astronauts be publically censored for their act and a further demand to prohibit any further demonstrations of religion by public leaders.

If this goes through, it can probably stop the mention of God in prayers on television. There is an expression that I've heard and think is so true which says: "Evil wins when good people do I feel that many times people like this woman are able to get things like this changed even though the great majority of the American people do not agree with her. What-happens is that we just sit around and talk about what a terrible thing this is when it happens. But we can keep something like this from ever happening if we will just sit down right now and write a letter and ask that Bible reading be continued if the astronauts want to in their trips into space. If you feel that it is a good thing for astronauts to be free to read the Bible in outer space publicly In their broadcasts back to earth, please send your letter to: NASA, Astronauts Office, Houston, Texas 77059.
