Travel School of America honored Travel School of America, a division of Garber Travel, is now the only accredited travel school in New England, offering a curriculum for students interested in a career in the travel industry. Accreditation was recently granted by the Accrediting Commission of the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools. The commission is listed by the US Office of Education, Washington, DC, as the official accrediting agency for the country's private trade and technical schools. To fulfill the commission's standards of educational, ethical and business practices, Travel School of America underwent detailed study by an examining team of qualified professionals and specialists. Among factors considered were: educational standards, history and integrity of operation, course offerings, faculty, admission rules, enrollment and business policies.

Established in 1966, Travel School of America now maintains classroom facilities in headquarters at 80 Union Newton Centre the original Boston Albany Railroad Station, selected as a national historic transportation landmark. The interior has been tastefully remodeled to provide an efficient educational center for students and faculty. This National Transportation Landmark at 80 Union street, Newton Center, is now the headquarters for Travel School of America. The building designed by the famous 19th Century architect, Henry Hobson Richardson, was the original Boston Albany railroad station and is now the site of the Newton Centre station of the MBTA Riverside line. The curriculum is devoted to preparing students for a career with a travel agency, airline, hotel, steamship company or other related fields of the travel and vaca- ski Itsl tion industry, as well as "in-house" travel departments of commercial companies.

The course is basic, vocational and comprehensive, based on total knowledge of the travel industry in all its phases and practical applications. It is specifically designed to enable graduates to qualify for many positions in the exciting daily travel industry. A 9-week course, a 23-week evening course and a 25-week Saturday course are offered at regular intervals. The faculty of Travel School of America is comprised of experienced personnel of Garber Travel, whose total experience covers all phases of sales and operations in domestic and international travel. In addition, well qualified and carefully selected personnel from major domestic and international airlines and other transportation companies, as well as the hotel and resort field, are included on the faculty to give valuable insight into their own specialized areas.

The diversified curriculum includes: Introduction to Travel, Geography, Travel Regulations (including visas and passports), Airline Bookings, Reservations, Faring and Ticketing, Steamship, Railroad and Ivlotorcoach Routings and Reservations, Foreign and Domestic Sales and Operations, Group and Individual Travel and Tour Conducting. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their acquired skills and knowledge in a variety of applied settings such as workshops, observation programs and field trips.
