THE SIOUX CITY JOURNAL: WEDNESDAY 310RNING, SEPTEMBER 11, 1895. CENTRAL A3IERICA UNION. THERE'S REASON III IT. HAS PROMISED TO REF0R1I sent up for burglary, is a trusty prisoner. George Trout, who is a life man.

is head man in the -cell house and is, In the best of health. Three convicts escaped from the cell house last month and are still at liberty. KEW roUCH LOCK. Primarily In tUo Interest of Maintaining Peace. New York, 10.

Further particulars of the latest movements for a Central American union have been obtained from Senor Jose de Gomez, the Nicaraguan statesman who, as the special minister from the president of Nicaragua to the other Central American states, conducted tke other, preliminary negotiations which led to the understanding now arrived at. Senor Gomez arrived in New York several days ago and has-been stopping with friends here. From here he will go to "Washington in a day or two to pay hi3 respects to.the Nicaraguan minister. In an interview Senor Gomez said: "The confederated arrangement by which Nicaragua, Salvador and Honduras. have just committed themselves and which it is hoped Guatemala and Costa Rica will also assent to is primarily in the interest of maintaining peace throughout Central America and promoting civilization and progress in the live republics.

The substantial and intelligent citizens in all these countries are heartily sick of revolutions, which have been so frequent in the past and have retarded iv developments, wasted our resources and discredited us in the eyes of the world. Everybody who has visited Central America or made a study of -conditions there knows that ours is, materially, one of the richest and fairest regions on the globe, which ought to compare favorably with any pther lor. population, prosperity and advancement. But the population of the whole of Central America is not much in excess of 13,000,000, Including natives and other inferior races; and its backwardness is lamentable in various material respects. "But what Tiastened the agreement for union, and was probably the determining factor in bringing it about wa3 the arbitrary action of England in the Corinto affair several months ago.

That was a striking object lesson of the weakness of the Central American states when confronted by foreign aggression, and the union for, defense is the direct outgrowth of it." Lcto Cuban Advices. New York. Sept. 10. The World says: Advices by special courier 1 from Cuba received at the offices of the Cuban Junta in this city state that the city of Santiago de Cuba is completely surrounded by the insurgents and that an attack is expected at any time.

Gen, Maceo Is. personally conducting tho siege. For two weeks he has completely cut off communication with the Interior, From the shore can be seen scores of camp fires belonging to the insurgent soldiers on the Advices, have been received by the patriot representatives in New York that an effort will be made to storm the fortresses which defend the place some time this week. It Is expected that the assault will be, made at night. The objective point will be the eastern portion of the city, where the main arsenal is.

In this arsenal is contained a large quantity of arms and ammunition which Gen. Maceo will try to take. The arsenal is strongly guarded by the Spanish troops, and in addition to being under the protection of the grans at Moro castle there is a strong battery on the shore. SpanlsbCatighfc In a Trnp. New York, Sept.

10. The World's Havana special, under date of August 30, says: There Is a report about town that a great battle has been fought in Puerto Principe and that the Spanish have been defeated and the capital captured by the insurgents. It Is said that a strong force! of Spanish trodps left the city Of Puerto Principe to make a bold attack' upon the Insurgents Who' were besieging the town. The insurgents fied after making a weak resistance, but it only to draw the Spanish into an ambuscade. Once in the trap the Spanish were attacked in the front by Gen.

Antonio Maceo and in the rear by Gen. Gomez. The rebels obtained a complete victory and entered the capital triumphant, 14,000 strong. How near the truth this statement is cannot be but Gen. Campos' immediate departure for Neuvltas the very day he arrived here is suggestive of something very serious having happened.

Insurgents Ua the Torch. Havana, 10. The insurgents have burned the village of San Juan de Amaro, in the province of Santa Clara, twenty-four kilos from Sagira la Grande, a handsome summer resort, celebrated for its mineral waters, and have destroyed the The insurgent chief Lazo Intimated to the. military commander of the garrison that death awaited him If he did not at once surrender, to which the Spaniard replied that he did not know the meaning of the word surrender. -The fighting then began and lasted four hours, incendiaries adding their work to the horror of the scene and soon destroying the whole village.

The Spanish forces were not driven from their position, although the Insurgents numbered 500. The Inhabitants fled from their ruined homes. It may not be of eurpassing Interest to learn that dogs are very, seldom troubled with Indigestion, but the curiosity of science by revealing the reason of the dog's vigorous digestion will undoubtedly prove of great benefit to the thousands of American.

men and women who suffer, year in and year out, from some1: form of Indigestion. Stated in a few words, scientific investigation proves that the gastric juice in the dog's stomach contains six times a3 much peosin -and twice as much hydro-chloric acid -'as' the stomach of a man. It is the lack of gastric juice, pepsin and hydro-chloric and lactic acids that causes so much dyspepsia and stomach weakness and science has not been slow in the treatment so -plainly indicated, and the most successful and safest remedy ever advanced for the cure of indigestion is Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets, because they contain the vegetable and fruit acids, pure pepsin, ginger and golden seal; they supply what every weak stomach lack3. They increase the amount of gastric juice, they digest the food perfectly. Rest and nourishment is nature's cure-for every disease, and Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets cure dyspepsia because they -rest, the overworked stomach and nourish the body.

Taken after meals they', digest the food thoroughly before It has time to ferment, sour and poison the blood and nerves, Full size package of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets are scld by-druggists at 50 cents, hy mail prepaid from The Stu art 'Marshall, Mich.
