Short time afterward on my return from Marlin I had a flat The spare tire w'as down. So, was driving along off the highway in the gravel, on the flat tire and rim. Harrison came along, turned around and suggested that he take my spare tire to get it fixed.

Instead of completely ruining the rim. We took the tire in the patrol car to the Sinclair station several miles nearer Waco, aired it up, retuning to the car where the patrolman made the tire change with a little help from me. "That's all a part of our duty," explained Patrolman Harrinon. It's one of those ac- commodatinq features that makes the Texas Highway Patrol so outstanding. Only a short time ago we had occasion to have some dealings with Harrison when we first He had found it necessary to stop one of my clients on a traffic irregularity, following a vretk.

Of course we did not intend for you to read the sentence out loud without pausing for the comma.

Our apologies to the pooular city iudge for not putting a period at that spot instead of a comma. Our English It a matter of Interpretation anyway. One is that a who admitted that he was not an expert, could not have found all the faults and merits of the local police system in so short a time. The other is that being an expert supposedly, in law enforcement theories, hw recommendations should be ad- herred to strictly without question. None of the chiefs or heads of the departments wanted to be quoted on this touchy subject.

Since W'oody Barron, the city hall daily reporter, has made such a flare of the demerits of the police department, every member of the force is on edge as to what might happen next. In fact the police have become so jittery i that in order to hold their jobs, they feel that they must issue tickets regardless of the right or i wrong of the offenses committed i A lot of comments were left out of Barron's quotations which would not have made the stories offensive had the complete remarks been used, thus placing the policc department in such a bad light in the This shows the upper hand the policp hall reporter has over the oinanizalion when he desires to usf It such a manner.
