But white's attack was. not to be parried. Petrosian came up with a smashing exchange sacrifice on the 24th move, which gave black, who was struggling with divided rooks, and a homeless king, no further chance to recover.

Resigns. downfall His 13th move posted his bishop on a square where it quickly became vulnerable to attack by Petrosian's knight. When the knight was exchanged for the bishop, "Fischer was saddled with a hopelessly weak doubled pawn. Correct would have been the prudent 13. XQP (B4).

The pawn had to be rescued, but advancing it permitted Petrosian to open lines against- the king, which would not be sheltered by safely castling on either wing. The powerful pawn sacrifice on the 20th move feft no doubt about the outcome of the game, but FOURTH 81100 Pave Cond. 1 Miie. 2 Red Rirrale, a. Doheity 8-5 6 Gypsy Win.

Rep.

William Q. Mac-Lean Jr. of Fairhaven, a co-sponsor of ti bill who believes it would allow the Bay State lo compete for racing tax revenue with New Hampshire, told a committee, "People want to do what they want whatever day they want to do it." The Sunday bill will go to the house'today for action. MacLean also pointed out that the Rockingham (N.H.) handle has been running between $1.4 to $1.6 million a week and a survey showed that 70 to 80 percent of the- cars in the parking lot on Sundays are registered in Massachusetts. Suffolk Downs is in favor of the bill, but Wonderland Dog Track is opposed to the extra day.

Angels to give Tony C. rest of $40,000 pay PITTSBURGH California Angels owner Gene Autry instructed his general manager Dick Walsh to pay former Red Sox outfielder Tony Conigliaro the remainder of his 1971 salary. He will receive an estimated $40,000. Conigliaro retired from baseball last June because of poor vision in his left eye. At the time the Angels said he had 'quit' and didn't deserve his yearly pay.

Conigliaro planned to fight the issue and Autry, rather than get into another legal hassle like the Alex Johnson case, ordered Walsh to pay Tony. ANTI-FREEZE FULL GALLON this week Labor dispute shuts Gansett for 2d night PAWTUCKET Narra-gansett Park officials were forced to cancel yesterday's horse racing card because of a continuing labor dispute. It was the second straight raceless evening at Gansett. The cancellation was forced by a walkout of members of Local 271 of the Laborers Union who do maintenance work.

The track dismissed six maintenance workers Tuesday and union members threw up a picket line that afternoon. Another picket line was formed yesterday. Arthur Novogroski, a lawyer representing Nar-ragansett, said last night, "No meetings have been held and none are scheduled rt this time. It's just hard to say what will happen." The trouble started Tuesday morning when union officials headed by Arthur E. Coia met with Clement Stapleton, Treasurer and Comptroller of Narragansett, in an attempt to work out sc supposed contract violations.

Robert Gentile, Supervisor of Racing for the State Racing Commission said, "Right now the situation still is unresolved." 4f 69vt SHOCK Restore that 'new car ride' to your auto ARDRRPDQ witfl Pleasurizer Shock Absorb-ADUHdtHb ers Buy 3 at our reguar seIing free instauatioh price and you get the' 4th FREE!
