Turf linger told Judge Charles E. Wyzanski Jr. and the jury that a six-man team "tailed" Kelley all during 1966. He said Kelley employed various techniques to get away from the inspectors. "He had a high-powered car and he simply outsped us at times," Turflinger said.

"Sometimes a friend in another car would follow Kelley's car and get in front of our car," Turflinger said. "The friend would manage to effect a breakdown on a narrow road, blocking our car and perpsftting Kelley to speed on, ahead."
