John J. Kelly of Water-town testified in Federal Court yesterday that he planned the July 26, 1966, armored car holdup at the VA Hospital in Jamaica Plain and later made-arrangements with Gennaro Angiulo of the North End to convert $15,000 of the loot into other currency. Angiulo is on trial before Judge Charles E. Wyzan-ski Jr and a jury "on a charge of being an accessory after the fact to the robbery. Benjamin F.

Tilley and Charles Dominico are charged with the actual robbery, which netted $68,000. Under questioning by Atty. Edward F. Harrington, chief of the Federal Strike Force in Boston, Kelley testified that the defendant Tilley gave him of the armored car money and asked him to change it for other money. He told the jury that he met Angiulo at a lounge on Tremont street in downtown Boston late in the evening about two weeks after the robbery.

After a perfunctory greeting, Kelley said that Angiulo asked "where did the money come from?" "I told him from the VA Hospital job." Kelley said. He said that Angiulo told him that if the armored car guards were seriously wounded that he wanted nothing to do with the money. Kelley said that after a few minutes of conversation, Angiulo took the bag of money. "In a few minutes, Angiulo came back and gave me a bag which I put under my coat and left." Kelley said. On reaching his home, Kelley said that he counted the money and found that the bag contained $11,200, mostly in $100 bills.

He gave the money to Tilley. Kelley testified that Tilley wanted to convert the $15,000 in tens and twenties to other currency because the bills were fairly new and the serial numbers might have been listed. Kelley testified most of yesterday. He said that he had conceived the idea of robbing the armored car at the hospital after he found out that the car called at A fit its, Ars i w' U.S. holds East Boston man An East Boston man was arrested yesterday by FBI agents and charged with transporting $553,000 in stolen U.S.
