The local whizzes scored their fourth consecutive triumph yesterday by the widest margin they have yet recorded, 315-75, over Taylor University of Upland, Ind. Their last obstacle next Sunday will be the University of South Florida at Tampa, which will be seen live on Ch. 10 at 6:30 and a week later at 3 on Ch. 4. If they win that one, BOXING.

The results of a 13-city study, it said, showed that more than 25 per cent of the time children spend in front of a TV set is spent watching commercials. It also found that, of 54 stations monitored, 33 were not showing 14 hours of i 1 n's television a week. And two-thirds of all the time devoted to children's programming is given over to cartoons, with Washington the worst offender at 84 per cent. These and other facts have been filed with the FCC as part of A.C.T.'s campaign to have the agency require 14 hours of sponsorless children's television a week on each station as a public service for the young minds of America. The FCC has the proposals "under study" and has asked for comments from all interested parties.

The local group also declared at the press conference that it was amazed by the support it has received for its stand from all over the country. Hundreds of letters of endorsement have poured in to the local offices and to the offices of the FCC 1 Hai 1 II EVENING 4:00 2-44 Maggie and the Beautiful Ma- china (e) 4-5-7-10-12 Nawi, weather (e) 6 Star Trek (c) ABC New (e) 1 1 Quest for Adventure 38 "Die Addamt Family (c) 56 Batman 4:20 10 Sports (c) 4:30 2-44 Fires of Creation 4- 10 Hurrtley-Brinltley (e) 5- 12 Waltar Cronkite, news (e) 7 ABC Newt (c) 9 News, weather (c) 1 1 The French Chef 27 Movie: "Treasure of the Aztecs" 38 Flipper (c) 54 Silligan's Island (c) 7:00 2-11 Louis Lyons (e) 4 Eyewitness Newsday (c) 5 What's My Line? Ellen Bass and Sandy Ferrari, with 7 and 4, respectively, while Glenda Starr and Trudy Hanmer chipped in with one each. Taylor was badly outclassed except for its No. 1 man, Bob "Whitehead, who came up with 4 wins. The others were all zeroes. With a halftime score of 185-20, the outcome was never in doubt.

So far Wellesley has won $12,000 in scholarship money and it has a week to go. If it can win its finale, it will join Brandeis, Bates, Bowdoin, Williams and Massachusetts as five-time champions. Brandeis, holds the all-time scoring record with 1860 points. So far Wellesley has scored 995 in its four wins (250-60 over Wyoming, 240-170 over Middlebury, 190-140 over Randolph-Macon, 315-75 over Taylor). The "College Bowl" producers still have hopes of interesting another sponsor or getting their program on public television, but at the moment, the death knell is scheduled to be sounded June 14.

Station, WXPO-TV (Ch. 50), Lowell, went off the air over the week-end as the aftermath of a bankruptcy petition.

It had been broadcasting only since Nov. 8 and since February had been on a curtailed schedule of only a few hours a day. It just couldn't make a go of it financially. A new attempt will be made to retrieve the station by a process of reorganization, bringing in new money and new management. There is hope, according to attorney Lewis Aronson, that it will be on the air again within 60 days.
