Also cochineal Is used for the color Red which consists of the body of the female insects of the cocus cocti. Oxblood was formerly used for Reddish Brown. Blue is made from the Indigo Plant which grows in the East Indies. Yellow is obtained from the stalk, flowers and leaves of the Reseda Plant, Green is obteined from grape leaves. Brown is derived from the skin of Pomegranate.

For Gray and Beige colors undyed natural wool is used or dyed with stuffs extracted from nut shells or oek bark. Black is made from oak apples or the skin walnuts and from iron oxide.
