The sources said, however, that bilateral agreements between Bonn and the Communist world ran counter to the thinking of East Germany, which fears that such deals between its allies and the West Germans could damage East German interests. But, the sources said, an agreement between Moscow and Bonn on the renunciation of force could also lead to a similar agreement between Bonn and the East Berlin government, since East German Leader waiter Ul-bricht has already pledged to follow Moscow's lead on the issue. set for the next meeting. The bilateral agreement being sought by the two countries which could take the form of a treaty or an exchange of declarations already has the blanket endorsement of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization which said in a communique after a summit meeting last week that such agreements could ease tension in Europe. But rights to a jury trial were not made binding upon the states until last year. Therefore, the Williams case tests whether a 12-man jury must be provided in state criminal trials. Williams was given a life day or Tuesday, from i a.m. thru m. TELEVUE 1224 Dale Mayberry.

The question of whether viruses ate among the causes of human cancer is one of the key issues still facing scientists. They believe the chances of preventing some forms of cancer may improve if a specific virus could be identified as the cause. Dr. Morton said his team, which has spent three years on the virus project, had discovered antigens which he described as footprints of the virus in all examined patients suffering from bone cancer. "What we are trying to do now is to get this virus in large enough amounts to induce malignant tumors in monkeys," he said.

"If we can induce the type of tumors we find in humans, then we can develop and test a vaccine against it in monkeys. And if we can prevent the disease in monkeys then it becomes more logical to do the same in humans," he added. Reuters WASHINGTON A leading American scientist said yesterday a vaccine against cancer could be ready for testing in five to 10 years if current research on the link between a virus and certain types o' cancer yield further results. But Dr. Donald Morton, head of the tumor immunology department of the National Cancer Institute, warned in an interview that it could be at least another five to 10 years before it could be known whether such a vaccine was effective.

Scientists at the institute say there is increasing evidence of a virus associated closely with human cancers of the bone, cartilage connecting tissues. At a conference in Paris called by International Union against Cancer last week, reports presented by a member of Dr. Morton's research team and another U.S. scientist were hailed as the most important in friends respectfully invited.
