Finished Meade, Vacant! Voted Outstanding Players Veterans Still Tough By Dick Becker Nebraska's Cornhuskers of 1960, at times sensational, at times disappointing, had to claw for all they were worth Saturday to scrape out a 14-0 win over an ebullient Alumni football squad before 6,500 fans at Memorial Stadium. Grown wider and heavier but still full of the old love of the game, the oldtimers made their annual return on All-Sports Day another occasion of which to be proud. True, they didn't win and they never looked like they would. But before they were through they had put the Varsity through a physical wringer that must have removed any premature plaudits about things to come next fall. For a team that had held just one short practice session, the Alums were determined opposition for Coach Bill Jennings' Varsity charges.

But there wasn't too much gloom surrounding the battle in the Varsity headquarters more the desire to get back to the practice field Monday for the final drills of the spring. The nucleus is there a right.

It will just take hard work to bring it out. It looked for a short time like this might be the first rout of the 9 Varsity-Alumni games, only one ending in an I Alum victory.
