To add a little frosting, Aces Goldman' and Lawrence bid, a grand slam in hearts to go down two tricks, Mike Lawrence (South) transferred to hearts over, two no trump and then jumped to six clubs. Bobby Goldman then thought enough of his hand to jump to the grand slam. Thus, within five deals, one of The Aces' stellar slam- bidding pairs played in two unmarkable grand slams. Not a good start! Especial- ly- when neither should have been.

By Percy Shain Globe Staff "How'i Boston, my favorite city outside of San Francisco?" was his opening sally. I was talking crosscountry to Michael Douglas, who stubbornly continues to use that name though he has been admonished not to by Actors' Equity and AFTRA in deference to the original Mike Douglas, whom we see daily on Ch. 4. He is, of course, the son of Kirk Douglas, and he's not at all like the old man. No cleft chin, no snarl in his voice, no driving ambition.

Just an amiable kid who "sort of slid into acting." He started out as M. K. Douglas because of the name conflict, making a big impresssion in his professional debut as a fast-talking, hep young man who fights and then joins the Establishment, in a CBS Playhouse production titled "The Experiment." "I kept out of TV after that, except for one 'Medical Center segment titled 'The in which I played a retarded boy," he said. Instead, he went the movie route, in "Hail Hero," "Adam at 6 a.m.," "Summertree" and the soon-to-be released Disney film, "Napoleon and Sa-mantha." "My roles followed a pattern," Douglas said. "I was usually a young teacher, the intelligent type, good with words." Now he's back on TV, in the SABC "Movie of the 1 Weekend" on Saturday, titled "When Michael Calls" (Ch.

7 at Sure enough, once again he's a teacher, but this time at a school for retarded children, and he's mixed up in some eerie doings with phone calls from the dead and mysterious murders to cope with. From this he goes right back into movies, with two scheduled to be made in Europe. He'll do one with Vittorio De Sica and Anna Magnani in Rome, called "The Honorable Society," and the other, as yet un-, titled, to be made in Lon-. don. He plans to stay in England for while.

Siberia Reuter MOSCOW They're still selling ice cream in Yakutsk, Eastern Siberia, although the temperature has dropped to 72 degrees Fahrenheit below zero the lowest there in 45 years. Yakutsk is the capital of a vast region containing some of the chilliest spots on earth. A report in the Soviet newspaper Trud said the temperature had not been above 67 degrees Fahrenheit below zero for the last two weeks. Fogs were so thick that it was impossible to see the other side of the street and buses were crawling through the city at six miles an hour.

But otherwise it was busisess as usual. Not until my junior year at school, when I had a chance to act and direct. I still want to advance in the directing and producing fields.

You can specialize yourself right out of business if you stick to acting. "In fact, I have a property right now which I'm going to produce.
