Mr.

Hardy, of Meredith, N.H., and West Newton, was a professor of film and theater arts who had been a leading force in developing the undergraduate and graduate film programs at Brandeis. During his career he had been associated in production and direction, or as a commentator and reporter with the ABC and NBC television networks, National Educational Television, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and the Australian Broadcasting Commission. He came to Brandeis in 1967, after a career that spanned television, radio, magazines and newspapers. He was winner of the overseas Press Club Award in 1966 for his documentary "India Writings in the Sand." At one time, he had worked with Time, as Director of Special Projects aand assistant publisher of Life, producing the magazine's "The World We Live He was also director of Look magazine's motion picture division.

Among his network credits were "Close-Up," David Brinkley's Journal, and a series on population problems. He leaves his wife, Gladys, and four children, Mrs. Timothy Jackson of Dublin, and Kathryn Lee, Alistair Keith-Hardy and Brian Keith-Hardy, all of West Newton.
