Taylor, Dollard; specialists, McNeilly, ized with a rib injury, sprinted to the right of the end zone to catch Yetten's pass for his first touchdown of the season. Fred McNeilly's kick tied the score. Bruce Taylor, half of B.U.'s punt return twins, set up the winning touchdown with his run back of Bill Johnson's punt, eluding five tacklers before being stopped on the Maine 31. Yetten's sixth touchdown pass of the year, for 14 yards to Cambest, was the winning touchdown.

McNeilly again added the extra point. Yetten was removed from the game by Naviaux in the third period after he took a wild swing at a Maine tackier on a B.U. offside and had 10 more yards tacked on for a personal foul. Sophomore Sam Hollo replaced him. Halfway through the final quarter Maine was backed up near its goal line.

Johnson punted to touchdown drive by running 41 yards to the Williams 39. Cohen used short runs by junior halfback John Dember before spotting Giachetti again in the end zone from the five. Williams' only touchdown resulted from a fumble by reserve QB Jim Ea-cott at his own 37. After five plays Jack Maitland scored on a 10-yard burst up the middle. Tufts' last touchdown was scored on an interception by defensive end Jack Male.

Sam Byrant hit QB Terry Smith's arm as he went back to pass. Male snared the wobbly pass and raced 70 yards for the TD. The over-all Tufts defense was stifling, holding All-New England fullback Jack Maitland to just 69 yards rushing. students and alumni were pre-occupied elsewhere as their team spotted Maine a first period touchdown and then rallied to score a touchdown in each of the last three periods for its fifth victory in six games. There were only about 5500 in the old Braves Field right field pavillion to see Waltham's Pete Yetten toss touchdown passes to Dave McCarthy and Jack Cambest in the second and third periods, and Fred Barry return a punt 44 yards for the other score. An elated rookie coach, Larry Naviaux kept repeating after the game, "This was a team victory. This was a team and he had justification. B.U.

had five injured regulars on the sidelines when the game started and lost a sixth man, sophomore halfback Pat Diamond, during the game. The lone Maine tally was set up in the opening quarter on a most unusual play. A B.U. back, defending kicker Wayne Dollard on a punt situation, actually blocked the kick as he backed into Dollard and Mark Kichardson recovered for Maine on his own Eight plays later, quarterback Dave Wing flipped a short pass to Dan Sullivan of Newburyport from the one yard line for the touchdown. Sophomore Jim Hayes of Lexington kicked the extra point.

The Terriers threatened twice before they finally hit "pay dirt" at 11:30 of the second period. Sopho- -more Ed O'Bara, trying to catch Dollard's punt on the run on his own 40, fumbled and Mark Tortora recovered for B.U. Cambest, replacing injured Frank Jewett, caught two Yetten passes to put the ball on the nine yard line. The Oval was renamed Frederick Ellis Oval in memory of the former great athlete who distinguished himself in football. Tufts scored first on Cohen's fourth-down, two-yard toss to Giachetti with 7:45 remaining in the first quarter. After five second-quarter unsuccessful drives by the Ephmen, the Jumbos faced a fourth down themselves on their own 43. Kicker John Am-brosino's expected punt never came. Over 7000 dazzled people, including coach Rocco Carzo, watched him sweep left end and score after running 57 yards.

A tough Norwich defense held off Bates' running game and set up the scoring opportunities that gave the Vermonter's a 13-0 victory yesterday. It was the defense that gave Norwich its first scoring opportunity. Norwich punted to the Bates two-yard line, the defense held and forced Bates to punt from their goal line. Nine plays and 39 yards later, George Kulhowvic rammed across the first Norwich touchdown on a three-yard run. Norwich scored again in the fourth period when the Cadets marched 53 yards in seven plays.
