Walter S. Brager, 90 year's young of Madison, Wisconsin and Austin, Texas went to be with his savior Lord Jesus on November 1 6, 201 he was surrounded by his loving and admiring family. Walter was born October 20th 1925 in Kewaunee, Wl to Rose and Walter Brager. He enlisted in the Air Force after High School and served his country great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Everett Guffey, and several brothers and sisters. Rosemary worked for the Texas Wholesale Beer Distributors' Association in Austin until retiring to San Antonio in the early 1 980s. Active well into her 90s, she was famous for her amazing baked goods, her green thumb, and her beachcombing. Rosemary was a great lover of animals, a doting grandmother, and a loving mother and mother-in-law. The family thanks her caregivers, Janie Garcia, Linda Cortez and Lettie Mancera, for taking such good care of her over the years, and the nurses, caregivers and staff from Griswold Home Care, Heart to Heart Hospice, and Regent Care Center on Blanco, for showing such kindness in her last few days.

His career contributed to his vast knowledge of engineering, and his "do-it yourself" personality. If anything ever broke around the house, he could easily fix it. To the amazement of his family, he could play just about any instrument by ear, especially the trumpet and piano. He had a beautiful voice, and loved to sing songs in Spanish, at times changing the words to entertain himself and anyone listening. After retirement, he spent most of his free time serenading his wife whom he adored from the day they met at the age of 1 5.

The family moved to Lubbock in 1952 where they ran a Tourist Court consisting of a motel, an old-time automotive service station and a country store.

He was married to Linda Johnson on January 28, 1966. He was a graduate of William B. Travis High School in Austin, Texas. He attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas then transferred to Texas A The Magic Time Machine has entertained and satisfied guests since 1973.

Beginning with HemisFair '68, the world's fair held in San Antonio, Hasslocher headed the restaurant company operating the Tower of the Americas restaurant for over thirty-five years. Long recognized as a leader in the community and restaurant associations, Jim Hasslocher served as past president of the San Antonio and Texas Restaurant Associations and as Chairman of the National Restaurant Association. In 2004, he received the Robert H.H. Hugman Award from San Antonio's hospitality industry for his positive contributions to the San Antonio Community. Following the 1973 opening of the Magic Time Machine Restaurant in San Antonio, Hasslocher received the International Foodservice Manufacturers premier Gold Plate Award as "Foodservice Operator of the Year" in "recognition of outstanding and lasting contributions to the advancement of America's food service industry." After graduation from Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas, Hasslocher served four years during World War II in the U.S.

Army Corps of Engineers, 2nd Amphibian Brigade. His military duty work uncovered an inherent talent and love for construction and design that he parlayed into many concepts as consumer demand and market trends evolved. Throughout his restaurant career, building things was the favorite part of his work. He was never bound to or hindered by the past. Jim instinctively sensed and anticipated consumer trends and learned to cater to them.

Following his instincts led him from charcoal-broiled hamburger drive-ins to family-style coffee shops to atmospheric dinner houses. In 1963, Hasslocher opened the first Jim's Coffee Shop at Broadway and Loop 410 in San Antonio. Modeled after California-style coffee shops of the fifties and sixties using "googie" architecture a futuristic, flashy, modern style with colorful signs and interiors, plate glass, bold angles and sweeping canti levered roofs. Jim's vision and ability to choose prime real estate locations made his familiar cowboy logo synonymous with good food and great service at affordable prices. As the business grew, Jim developed a strong team built with loyal employees who shared his vision.

From humble beginnings in Shreveport, Louisiana, this only son of a single mother learned about scarcity and self-sufficiency at an early age. He inherited positive determination and a strong can-do spirit from his mother. Hasslocher never took success lightly. "I didn't come from the worst of situations, and I didn't come into the best of situations, but I've appreciated the best of situations. And I've made the best of the worst situations.

I'm lucky to be where I am." One of Hasslocher's legacies will remain the key role he played in drafting legislation in 1971 to bring a comprehensive mixed beverage program known as "liquor by the drink" to Texas, moving the Texas restaurant, hospitality and beverage industries into a new era. In recent years, former State Senator Joe Christie wrote Jim a note: "Every time I order a drink in Texas, I think about what you and I accomplished more than four decades ago. The people of Texas owe you a debt of gratitude, as do I. "Quoting Jim Hasslocher, "You try to give back to the industry that's been good to you. That inner award is better than any others." Always a gracious southern gentleman with a heart as big as Texas, Jim Hasslocher lived life to the fullest.

He was an uncommon man who lived an uncommonly full life and never lost the common touch. He smiled easily, spoke slowly and softly, and laced his conversation with humor. Jim Hasslocher was a generous host, adoring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, committed friend, and devoted to the dedicated team at all levels of his business. His mother Margaret, sister Connie Parrish, and wife of sixty-two years, Veva Ball, predecease him. His wife, Lilia Miller Flynn Hasslocher, survives Jim, along with his five children Susan Hasslocher, Caryn Hasslocher and husband Anthony Koch, Jimmy Hasslocher and wife Tracie, Bobby Hasslocher and wife Jill Matthiessen-Hasslocher, and Julie Stirman-, fourteen grandchildren and spouses, seven great-grandsons, devoted housekeeper of 59 years, Eddie Mae Boone, and many nieces and nephews.

I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time. -Jack London With Jim Hasslocher's earthly work complete, the Gates of Heaven are now under construction.
