BOULEVARD RESTAURANT aged by fire. They included a large wooden mess hall burned to the ground, an administrative building where flames destroyed files for the 720 U.S. prisoners, including one civilian, a supply building and seven wooden frame tents. Col William Brandenburg, the Army provost marshal, said an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the riot, which broke out after a fight among inmates. The stockade, 12 miles northeast of Saigon, covers an area the size of half a city block.

It has a capacity of 550 prisoners but it contained 702. The destruction of the mess hall led to speculation that the inmates may have been dissatisfied with the foo'd. There have also been reports of racial dissension in the Long Binh jail known locally as the "LBJ." A force of 100 military policemen, hurling tear gas grenades and armed with billy clubs and bayonet-tipped rifles, moved in to battle the rampaging prisoners and then forced them out of the compound so fire trucks could get in. The prisoner who died suffered a fractured skull. It was the second outbreak in a U.S.

SAIGON, Enemy forces today bombarded rna'jor American and South Vietnamese bastions near Saigon, in the Central Highlands and at Da Nang on the Northern coast. The enemy shelling did not appear at first notice to signal a major offensive predicted by allied intelligence.

It appeared more as harassment, chiefly, aimed at U.S. air power. The shelling struck U.S. Marine and Air Force airfields near Da Nang, 380 miles north of Saigon, the Bien Hoa airfield just north of the capital, the bastion city of Pleiku and a nearby American outpost 240 miles north of Saigon. U.S.

spokesmen said American casualties and material losses ranged from "light" to "very light." But the 17 122mm rockets that plunged into Pleiku demolished six houses near a church, killing four South Vietnamese and wounding 15 more. mUCUf Ullt DrCT 227 Harrison Ave. Spec. By this time South knows that East started with ace-jack of spades, ace of hearts and jack of clubs. If East also held the ace of diamonds, he would not have passed as dealer, so South should play West for the ace of diamonds and thus make his contract.

East won the first trick with the ace of spades and returned a low trump. South won with the king of hearts and saw only that the opponents were aiming to deprive him of a spade ruff. Reacting to this threat, South took the king of spades and ruffed his last spade in dummy. Now there was the problem of getting out of dummy Declarer took two top clubs, on which East played the four ar the ten. Expecting the clubs to break favorably, South led a third high club from dummy.

West ruffed, and the two red aces then put South down one. There was no need to ruff a spade in dummy. Roy on Friday denied a request by radio station WMEX for an injunction which would keep talkmaster Jerry Williams off the air. The basis of the suit was a contract which Williams signed with WMEX in 1965, in which he agreed not to appear on another Boston station for five years. Williams real name Gerald Jacoby returned to Boston recently to work for WBZ.

Richmond Brothers, oper- ators of WMEX, brought Williams to court to keep him off the air until the expiration of the contract in 1970. Evidence in the trial indicated the Richmond Brothers felt that Williams would try to draw back advertisers who had bought time on his WMEX show.
