JAMES P. RYAN in 195S IllOliJOISS league and semi-professional ftenfe HAVERHILL Rev. James P. Ryan, 65, pastor of St. John the Baptist Church, died Tuesday afternoon at Eon Secours Hospital, Meth-uen.

Fr. Ryan was born in Haverhill, studied at St John's Seminary, Brighton, and was ordained a priest in 1930 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Boston. He was assistant pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Med-ford, from 1930 until 1955, when he became pastor of St. John's.

Haverhill-born Ryan, an alumnus of St. James High School here, served as captain of its football team and pitcher on the baseball team. He was a classmate of Bp. Jeremiah F. Minihan there.

In Medford he was spiritual director for more than 2000 boys in parish Catholic Youth Organization activities, and his senior C.Y.O. boys' band won the archdiocesan championship eight times during his service. His brother, Paul has been Haverhill High School head football coach. Fr. Ryan's father, the late James was a minor FOR baseball umpire.

George Morris, 57, dermatologist of 67 Bellevue Hill West Roxbury, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home. Born in Boston- he attended schools here and gradu- ated from Boston College in 1932 and Tufts Medical School in 1937. He was also a professor of dermatology at Tufts and Boston College, and had a practice in Boston and Dedham. Dr. Morris was a member of the American Medical New England Derma-tological Society, Mass.

Industrial Physicians, Mass. Medical Society, American Academy of Dermatology, and the John J. Williams Council of Knights of Columbus. He leaves his wife, the former Alice L. Ployer; two sons, George Morris Jr.

and Paul, and seven daughters, Kathleen, Helenmarie, Rose-mary, Marilyn. Janine, Dianne and Denise, all at home; four brothers, Rev. John F. Morris, S.J., Chaplain at Boston City Hospital, and Thomas Richard J. and Robert, and a sister, Mrs.
