THE SHYAN Cemetery Board Told By McDonald Of New City Code At its quarterly meeting this morning in the Council Room of the City Hall, the City Cemetery Board had four of its five members present. They were, Mrs. John E. Astin, Mrs. Dona Coulter Carnes, Mrs.

Brint Morris and Miss Lucy Harrison. Following the dispatch routine business, W. T. McDonald, city attorney, talked to the group of the new Administrative Code for the City of Bryan which he had recently complied, and pointed out to them the section concerning the Bryan City Cemetery and its board of directors. The cemetery lot of Dr.

C. H. Haines was reported as a new endowment lot, thus bringing the total of endowed, perpetual care lots to 119. Mrs. R.

Q. Astin sent a report stating that all cemetery condition lots were in excellent and outlined plans for further improvements and special care which will be launched early this Fall. Announcement was made that the next board meeting would be held on the second Thursday of October at the City Hall, at 11 a.m. Jones Will Return From Special Mission In Ecaudor Shortly Mr Mrs. J.

M. Jones who been for 15 months in Quito, Ecuador, are returning home in the near future. Bryan friends have learned that the Joneses will sail from Guagaquil, and will land in New York on August 10. After a few days in New York City, Mr. and Mrs.

Jones will go to Washington, D. C. where Mr. Jones will make a report to the United Nations on work which he has accomplished while on a special mission to South 'America. About September first, Mr.

and Mrs. Jones are due to arrive in Bryan and Mr. Jones will resume his work with the Beef Cattle and Sheep Research division of the Animal Husbandry department of College. Rev. and Mrs.

Herring To Visit Mexico City The Rev. and Mrs. R. L. Herring Jr.

will leave Monday for a two-weeks vacation trip to Mexico City. They will be accompanied by Mrs. Herring's mother and aunt, Mrs. Louis Underwood and Miss Eloise Majure both of Sebastopol, who will arrive in Bryan Saturday. Dr.

R. E. Day will preach at services at the Calvary Bapitst Church while Rev. Herring, the pastor, is away. Polio (Continued from Page 1) Sherman's first reported polio diagnosis.

Fourth in Fort Worth The Whalin boy's death was the fourth of the year from polio in Fort Worth, where Hospital Administrator Hudson said, "We are going to have to start thinking along the lines of home treatment for convalescent patients." A four-year-old Houston tot had polio for the second time. He was Michael, who, city health showed, suftered his first polio attack in 1950. The boy was among new cases reported Monday in the ravaged city, six from within the Houston city limits, three from Harris county. The new cases hiked the city total at Houston to 210 with six deaths. The new Harris county total stood at 151 and six deaths.

At Fort Worth Monday, Harlan Rowen Hudson 30, of Pecos and Fort Worth, was diagnosed as a polio patient after visiting his son, also a polio victim. Mrs. Cummings, the young woman who died at Houston's Jefferson Davis hospital, was the mother of a 15-months-old daughter. The Sherman policeman, who died in Dallas Monday night after being admitted to Parkland Hospital earlier in the day, was the father of two children. Abraham Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, died at 35, shortly after the family had moved across the Ohio River to the hills of Southern Indiana.

Hodges, above, has been appointed resident engineer at the Corps of Engineers Field Offices at Bryan. Air Force Base. Since most of the military construction at BAFB is nearing, completion, Hodges' principal job will be supervision of construction of an 000 auxiliary field at Hearne.

Hodges comes to Bryan from the field office of the Corps of Engineers, United States Army, Lake Charles, La. He supervised airfield paving at Lake Charles, Air Force Base where the Galveston District is engaged in a multi-million dollar military construction program. Park In Corpus Named For Mrs. Armstrong Evelyn Price Park has been named by the Corpus Christi Council upon the recommendation of the Park and Recreation Board in honor of Mrs. Armstrong Price, founder and Chairman from 1945 to 1950.

Mrs. Price, who has aroused local interest as a candidate for Brazos County Commissioner, Precinct 1, moved to College Station in 1950 with her husband, Dr. W. Armstrong Price of the Graduate Department of Oceanography of Texas College. Widely known for her interest in civic improvement and better government, Mrs.

Price won national recognition as sweepstakes winner in the 1951 Beautiful. America Competition of the Better Homes and Gardens Magazine by her use of city ordinances for slum and junk yard clearance and park and municipal development by bond issue. She was a member of the subcommittees for bond issues for the Area Development Plan for Corpus Christi now on display on the second floor of the Memorial Student Center. Thomas To Work For Eisenhower, He Says Today J. L.

Thomas, who was an alternate delegate-at-large on the Republican delegation named at the Mineral Wells convention and instructed for Senator Taft, has returned from Chicago and said Wednesday that he would do everything possible to secure the election of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the party's presidential candidate. Thomas still denies there were any steam-roller tactics by the Taft faction and that it was a sign of weakness to offer to compromise the dispute between the Taft and Eisenhower delegations at the convention. Thomas also that the vast expenditures he believes the Eisenhower faction spent at least off-sets charges of fraud and theft in the selection of delegates rom some Southern states. Thomas is the chairman of the Republican county executive committee.
