HBO Video yesterday that "Platoon" will hit video stores "within the next few days," following an out-of-court settlement with Vestron Video over the distribution rights to Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning Vietnam saga. The settlement has HBO retaining the rights until Sept 1, 1988, with Vestron picking them up on Oct 14, 1988. The settlement also covers the rights to "Hoosiers" which both sides were also battling about The "Platoon" video, which will retail at $99.95, carries a 30-sec-ond tribute (read: advertisement) from Chrysler honcho Lee Iacocca on behalf of their new Jeep Eagle Division. In addition, HBO is donating $100,000 of the sale's proceeds to a Vietnam veter PHANTOM rNHANTOM FORECAST: I jjiJ February will find a Li host of new horror flicks turning up at local cassette outlets.

Chief among them are Clive Barker's bloody good gorefest Hell-raiser (New World, Shallow Grave (Prism, the less-than-eagerly awaited Jaws: The Revenge (MCA, The Lost Boys and part 3 of Larry Cohen's mutant-baby triology Island of the Alive, starring Michael Moriarty and Karen Black (Warner, $89.95 and $79.95, respectively).
