She was High-rising feathers on snug calottes, casual blazers, wool jersey shjrtmaker dresses, military reefers, and sturdy Chesterfield topcoats will occupy the center of the teen-age wardrobe for the coming year, judging by yesterday's audience at the Marsha Jordan contest held at the Jordan Marsh Company store. Jeanne Morris, 15, of 176 Hillcrest road, Needham, carried off top honors in the second year's showing of high-school models held on the fourth floor.

Jeanne Morris, who will receive a complete school wardrobe and serve as sponsor for the Marsha Jordan Shop for the coming year, modelled the perennial loose sweater in blue worn with a knife-pleated skirt of beige, brown, and blue, changing to a dressy suit of bittersweet flannel designed with full three-quarter length sleeves, accented by a lingerie touch with sheer white cuffs, and topped by a muffin-shaped hat to match. She also scored in a "sweet and smooth" version of the dirndl done in turquoise faille and a demure Dutch caD. Second place was awarded to Gertrude Talcott, 15. of 23 Cottage Medford. and third place to Eleanor McCarthy, 16, of 03 Margin West Newton.

Both were effective modelling military trends. Miss McCarthy's overseas cap perched above a wrap-around "kitten's ear" coat of tan demonstrated how practical the well-tailored combinations can be. Miss Talcott displayed the Navy trend with a double-breasted officer's coat styled with hich rovers find a democratic little sailor's beret on her bend. Miss Edna Somers, director of Jordan's Fashion Center, explained that while red will not be as widely worn as it was last year, it is indispensable for color contrast. Rose and blue shades and green end gold combinations were popular in the assortment chosen for the teen-age models.

Hats will be worn oftener by school girls, especially beanies, and visored calottes, according to yesterday's preview. Also popular will be wool, jersey, gabardine, and priority buttons of wood, giddy embroidered monograms which can't be deciphered and therefore might be anyone's initials. 43 Stanhopn Boston: COM. 1900. Merle Oberon gives a dramatic portrayal as the Norwegian beauty who proves the hard way that a woman can be as courageous as a man when it comes to fighting the foes of her land. She has her chance at love and safety an opportunity in which the young girls in the audience are obviously thrilled. "Isn't she wo-o-on-derful," they exclaim in ecstasy when she leaves Brian Aherne in favor of espionage. Actually "First Comes Courage" is rather a mediocre picture when you analyze the plot. Russell-F. M'Murray "Fllqht for Freedom" M. Carey-Betty Rhodes "SALUTE FOR THREE" VAUDEVILLE RKO BOSTON THEATRE Three Stooges and Mary Beth Hughes It's murder, what the Three Stooges get away with in the name of comedy! You know them Moe, Larry and Curley as looney a trio of madcaps as even turned a theatre upside down. They are making their annual appearance at the RKO Boston Theatre, which explains the din you heard on lower Washington st. Eye gouging (the old Webber and Fields trick), pratfalls, falsettos and every other kind of slapstick nonsense are their stock in trade.

That their routine is to all intents and purposes, the same one they offered here last season, does not seem to faze them or the audience, for that matter. They sometimes go off the deep end toward coarseness, but the laughs are frequent and loud. Mary Beth Hughes, star of "The Ox-Bow Incident." "The Great Profile" and other films, adds a touch of glamour to the new show. And a very pretty girl she is. She disarms the audience with a brace of jokes and then breaks into a couple of songs.

A hit of the show is Roy Davies, who has a very curious act to offer. While a phonograph plays a novelty number like "Three Birds" or Danny Kaye's version of "Dinah," Davies makes exaggerated motions with his lips, hands, eyes and so on, as though he actually were singing the song. But he dosen't utter a word. Competent but not particularly distinctive music is supplied by Bobby Sherwood and his music makers. Gwen Davis sings some very nice vocals.

On the screen the feature is "What's Buzzin' Cousin?" a musical in which whirlwind tap dancer Ann Miller and Eddie "Rochester" Anderson cut up to tunes played by Freddy Martin and his band. J. W. R. STAGE IN TOWN CAMBRIDGE RIALTO PAR.

There are dozens of hairbreadth escapes, and an equal amount of unbelievable coincidences which would indicate that the hero can be two places at once, arriving at both on the nick of time.

But Aherne and Miss Oberon are convincing actors and make the old stuff look up-to-date and even worthwhile. The shoddiness is of story rather than acting or direction. Dorothy Arzner, one of Hollywood's few woman directors, was chosen to take charge of this tale of woman's bravery and strength. She has a full appreciation of the value of suspense and she has for the most part turned out an exciting melodrama. There are a couple of things that shouldn't have been kept in the finished picture, including a scene in which the German officers are pursuing, at 80 miles an hour, the escaping Miss Oberon and Aherne.

He has just killed the wicked Major Dichter. Miss Oberon looks back with exasperating calm and says. "I think they are following us." This gets a laugh that was never intended. "Petticoat Larceny" presents attractive Joan Carroll as a radio child star. M.
